Abstract: Embodiments described herein improve airflow around the bicycle wheels by providing for one or more of: (1) a optimum leading edge width of a rim for preventing early stall in cross winds, while still allowing for sufficient stability without undue drag, whilst not unnecessarily increasing the rotating wheel and drag on the frame; (2) a sidewall shape with a subtle camber angle at the leading, which defines a rate of radius change at the max width of the rim—which further defines the max width and placement along the chord length for optimizing the aerodynamic properties of the rim; (3) a continuous rate of change of curvature at a spoke face, which fundamentally improves the performance and stability by generating a side force at higher yaw angles; and (4) wheel sets with a wider front rim relative to a narrower rear wheel to assist in flow attachment in high crosswind areas.

Abstract: Application of carbon fiber reinforced polymer structures to metal vehicle wheels is effective in reducing the mass of the wheel while retaining suitable stiffness in the wheel structure. For maximum effect the reinforced polymer structure and the metal wheel must operate cooperatively. Because of the wide range of operating temperatures experienced by wheels and the large difference in coefficient of thermal expansion between metals and carbon fiber reinforced composites attachment of the polymer structure to the wheel by adhesive alone is problematical. However a wheel with an effective and durable reinforcement may be fabricated by confining, through mechanical interference, the reinforced polymer in a cavity in or on the spoke and by preheating the wheel before curing the polymer.

Abstract: An electrical disconnect assembly with separate disconnecting device compartment, such that safety handle mechanism does not provide access to the disconnecting device or any energized parts or conductors consisting of multiple compartments arranged so as to allow service of the load compartment without exposure to line voltages. The assembly includes a plurality of compartments with the load compartment having a lockable handle operator that that is interlocked with its corresponding compartment door. The handle operators are mechanically connected to the disconnecting devices via flexible cables or mechanical linkage. A key feature/distinction of this invention is that the disconnecting devices is remote mounted from the overcurrent protective device, so that when the handle operator is switched to the OFF position there are no components (e.g. disconnecting device and/or its conductors) within the load compartment that remain energized by line voltage.

The first step fills a compressing metal mold with a compound chiefly made of flaky anisotropic magnetic particles. The second step forms a compression molded substance by molding the compound in the metal mold within an orientation magnetic field. The third step couples the compressing metal mold to a molding metal mold together. The fourth step moves the compression molded substance from the compressing metal mold to the molding metal mold, and then deforms and molds the compression molded substance into a given shape. This method allows controlling the anisotropy of the anisotropic bonded magnet.
