Publication number: 20130062212Abstract: A technique for embedding a nanotube in a nanopore is provided. A membrane separates a reservoir into a first reservoir part and a second reservoir part, and the nanopore is formed through the membrane for connecting the first and second reservoir parts. An ionic fluid fills the nanopore, the first reservoir part, and the second reservoir part. A first electrode is dipped in the first reservoir part, and a second electrode is dipped in the second reservoir part. Driving the nanotube into the nanopore causes an inner surface of the nanopore to form a covalent bond to an outer surface of the nanotube via an organic coating so that the inner surface of the nanotube will be the new nanopore with a super smooth surface for studying bio-molecules while they translocate through the nanotube.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 9, 2011Publication date: March 14, 2013Applicant: INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORPORATIONInventors: Ali Afzali-Ardakani, Binquan Luan, Hongbo Peng

Publication number: 20130062215Abstract: In a method of stopping an operation of a water electrolysis system, an on-off valve disposed in a pressure release line communicating with a cathode side of an electrolytic membrane is opened while an electrolytic current is applied between power feeders to electrolyze water for generating oxygen on an anode side of the electrolytic membrane and high pressure hydrogen having a higher pressure than a pressure of the oxygen on the cathode side. A value of the electrolytic current is reduced in a predetermined cycle or continuously. One of a specific resistance and conductivity of water to be supplied to the high pressure hydrogen producing apparatus is detected. Publication number: 20130062255Abstract: Deep desulfurization of hydrocarbon feeds containing undesired organosulfur compounds to produce a hydrocarbon product having low levels of sulfur, i.e., 15 ppmw or less of sulfur, is achieved by first subjecting the entire feed to an extraction zone to separate an aromatic-rich fraction containing a substantial amount of the aromatic refractory and sterically hindered sulfur-containing compounds and an aromatic-lean fraction containing a substantial amount of the labile sulfur-containing compounds. The aromatic-rich fraction is contacted with isomerization catalyst, and the isomerized aromatic-rich fraction and the aromatic-lean fraction are combined and contacted with a hydrotreating catalyst in a hydrodesulfurization reaction zone operating under mild conditions to reduce the quantity of organosulfur compounds to an ultra-low level.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 27, 2012Publication date: March 14, 2013Inventor: Omer Refa Koseoglu

Publication number: 20130062256Abstract: Deep desulfurization of hydrocarbon feeds containing undesired organosulfur compounds to produce a hydrocarbon product having low levels of sulfur, i.e., 15 ppmw or less of sulfur, is achieved by hydrotreating the feed under mild conditions, and separating the hydrotreated effluent into an aromatic-rich fraction which contains a substantial amount of the aromatic refractory and sterically hindered sulfur-containing compounds, and an aromatic-lean fraction. The aromatic-rich fraction is contacted with isomerization catalyst, and the isomerized aromatic-rich fraction is recycled to the mild hydrotreating process.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 27, 2012Publication date: March 14, 2013Inventor: Omer Refa KOSEOGLU

Publication number: 20130062257Abstract: Deep desulfurization of hydrocarbon feeds containing undesired organosulfur compounds to produce a hydrocarbon product having low levels of sulfur, i.e., 15 ppmw or less of sulfur, is achieved by flashing the feed at a target cut point temperature to obtain two fractions. A low boiling temperature fraction contains refractory, sterically hindered sulfur-containing compounds, which have a boiling point at or above the target cut point temperature. A high boiling temperature fraction, having a boiling point below the target cut point temperature, is substantially free of refractory sulfur-containing compounds. The high boiling temperature fraction is contacted with isomerization catalyst, and the isomerized effluent and the low boiling temperature fraction are combined and contacted with a hydrotreating catalyst in a hydrodesulfurization reaction zone operating under mild conditions to reduce the quantity of organosulfur compounds to an ultra-low level.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 27, 2012Publication date: March 14, 2013Inventor: Omer Refa Koseoglu

Publication number: 20130062258Abstract: A process and composition for removing heavy oil and bitumen from oil sands is disclosed. The composition comprises an emulsion of d-limonene in water, with an optional anionic surfactant as an emulsifying agent. The emulsion is contacted with an oil sand slurry until the aqueous and hydrocarbon phases separate. The process may take place at temperatures less than about 80° C. and with low concentrations of the d-limonene.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 18, 2012Publication date: March 14, 2013Applicant: US OILSANDS INC.Inventor: Kevin OPHUS

Publication number: 20130062259Abstract: This invention relates to a centrifugal jig comprising a rotating device, at least one jig unit and a product receiver. The jig unit includes a hutch chamber, a screen residue chamber, a screen, a feeding device, a discharging device and a pulsator. The jig unit is installed on the rotor at an inclined angle along the movement of the feed. It is used to separate particles of different density in the slurry. The product receiver is fixed on the ground to collect the separated materials discharged from the rotating jig unit. Separated materials are discharged from an outlet of the screen residue chamber in the jig unit. This invention can unselectively separate any size particles of different density in the fine slurry.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 14, 2011Publication date: March 14, 2013Applicant: Qinzhou AurSource Technology Inc.Inventors: Chuanzhong Zhang, Hongliang Liu, Jingwu Wang
