    Abstract: A lock includes a lock body, an access restricting structure, a locking mechanism, a lock interface, and a mode selection mechanism. The locking mechanism is operable to secure the access restricting structure in a first position when the locking mechanism is in a locked condition. The lock interface is operable to move the locking mechanism between the locked condition and an unlocked condition. The mode selection mechanism is operable to selectively place the locking mechanism in either one of a first mode and a second mode. In the first mode, movement of the access restricting structure to the first position automatically moves the locking mechanism to the locked condition. In the second mode, the access restricting structure is movable to the first position without moving the locking mechanism to the locked condition.

    Abstract: A rekeyable masterkeyabe lock includes a plurality of key followers, a plurality of user racks and a plurality of master racks. One user rack and one master rack are associated with each key follower and are configured to be selectively disengaged from, and reengaged with, the key follower. When the user racks are disenggaged from the key follower, the valid user key can be replaced with a new user key. Reengaging the user racks with the key followers rekeys the lock cylinder to the new user key and invalidates the original user key. Similar functionality applies to rekeying the master key. Either the user key or the master key can be rekeyed without rekeying the other.

    Abstract: A rekeyable master lock includes a plurality of pin gears, with each pin gear engaged with a corresponding key follower. As each key follower rides up and down on the key biting, it causes a corresponding pin gear to rotate. Each pin gear engages a user gear and a master gear so that, as the pin gear rotates, the user and master gears rotate. Each user and master gear, in turn, drives a corresponding user rack and a master rack. When a valid user key is inserted and rotated, the user racks or master racks are aligned along a common axis and held in alignment by a locking bar. Longitudinal movement of the user gear or master gear allows the rekeying function by decoupling and recoupling the user gear or master gear with the user racks or master racks.

The tube is then quench hardened by heating to at least the Ac3 point at a temperature rate increase of at least 50° C. per second followed by cooling at a cooling rate of at least 50° C. per second at least in a temperature range of 850-500° C. Tempering is done at a temperature of at most the Ac1 point.

    Abstract: This invention utilizes a linear motor to impact peening media. It has three major applications: (1) deep compression low surface work peening, (2) Almen strip arc height testing and (3) manual peening. This process differs from existing processes in that impacts are controlled in position, velocity and mass. The indentor tip may have single or multiple indentors. In its deep peening/low surface work this invention competes with processes such as Roller Burnishing, Low Plasticity Burnishing and Laser Peening. The Almen strip testing application fills a void in shot peening quality control. There are examples of Almen strips whose arc height behavior differed side to side. Others have differed between lots. Recent peening production lines have been shut down by incorrect arc heights. This invention is an alternative to manual peening processes such as Flapper peening and hand held nozzle peening.
