Abstract: A single gas detector combines a dual cavity photo-acoustic gas sensor with a common microphone and common source. Electrical outputs from the microphone can be analyzed to determine an analyte gas concentration in the local region being monitored. Radiant energy from the common source can be directed into both cavities simultaneously. Alternately, the sensor can be used with two microphones to establish a concentration of each of two different gasses, or a gas and water vapor.

Abstract: A low-cost, easily manufactured humidity and mold indicator for buildings that incorporates a one-piece transparent plastic injection-molded body. Appearance of a warning icon or a change in color alerts the owners or occupants of a building to a hidden leak and thereby prevents costly structural damage, cosmetic damage and mold damage to building components. The indicator is easily inserted and secured into a drilled hole in panel such as a wall or soffit. In one embodiment, the indicator snaps into place after being fully inserted into the panel. In another embodiment, a retainer inserted into the hole holds the indicator enabling easier removal of the indicator for replacement or for inspection of the area behind the panel. An optional removable cap can be painted the same color as the wall. An optional mask covers the integral viewing window during painting of the device.

Abstract: The application describes methods and apparatus for chemical sensing, e.g. gas sensing, which have high sensitivity but low power operation. A sensor is described having a flexible membrane comprising a III/N heterojunction structure configured so as to form a two dimensional electron gas within said structure. A sensing material is disposed on at least part of the flexible membrane, the sensing material being sensitive to one or more target chemicals so as to undergo a change in physical properties in the presence of said one or more target chemicals. The sensing material is coupled to said heterojunction structure such that said change in physical properties of the sensing material imparts a change in stress within the heterojunction structure which modulates the resistivity of the two dimensional electron gas.

The calibrated pipe or the floating shaft of the present invention is to be floated perpendicularly to water surface within the well. The shaft is supported by a group of buoys, which floats in line with the water in the well. The buoys are positioned radially around and perpendicularly to the shaft. The present invention further comprises a collar which helps position the shaft vertically and perpendicularly to the water level. The calibrated pipe of the present invention can be read in the absence of light due to an attachment of a solar light-emitting diode (LED).
