Abstract: A winder assembly is provided and includes two or more cores mounted for rotation on a turret assembly and a web of sheet-type work material is wound around a core. A lay-on roll assembly roller and a core cooperate to define a first nip. A transfer roll assembly includes a roller coupled for rotation to a rail such that the roller and a core cooperate to define a second nip. A cutting means for cutting the work material includes a traverse assembly having a work material guide means. During operation, after cutting work material, the turret assembly indexes a core into a winding position and the work material guide means is moved to the operating position such that the roller coupled to the rail causes the work material to be fed into the second nip and begin winding around the core.

Abstract: A machine for slitting metal sheet into strips includes a fixed upper beam and a lower beam that is displaceable vertically. Both beams support slitter heads that move along the beams. Each beam carries an arbor that rotates in it and extends through the slitter heads on it. Each beam also has a fixed threaded shaft and lock rods that extend through the slitter heads on it. Each slitter head carries a ring-like knife that rotates with the arbor for its beam. Each slitter head also has a motor-driven nut that engages the threaded shaft extending through the beam and, when rotated, moves the slitter head along its beam. The slitter heads have clamps, which clamp down on the lock rods to secure the slitter heads in fixed positions. The knives rotate about axes that are skewed slightly relative to the axes of the arbors that drive them.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are exemplary embodiments of methods, systems, and apparatus for improving pianos and like musical instruments. For example, in certain embodiments, the improvements are in the structures of the piano (or like musical instruments) that affect the vibratory relationships between the struck string and other segments of said string. The improvements affect how these vibratory relationships of the string segments interact with the bridge, soundboard, the plate of a piano, the string rests, and/or the string terminations. For example, in embodiments of the disclosed technology, the vibratory relationships of the string segments involve transient transverse (T) and longitudinal (L) frequencies as well as sustained transverse, longitudinal, and horizontal (H) modes carried by said string segments and their support structures. Embodiments of the disclosed technology also affect how these relationships are defined across the compass of the standard piano keyboard.

Abstract: A method is presented that allows feedback to be given on a musical performance without restrictions on the performance in terms of quality of intonation, tempo, or specific note order. Based on standard musical exercises, the ability to rate a performance is tolerant to repeated and/or omitted notes, to varying tempo and to systematic tuning errors. The method is suitable for use on mobile devices and may provide real-time feedback to allow the performer to adjust their performance or monitor their progress during the performance. Since a wide range of proficiency is able to be rated to give an indication of how well the performer executed a musical exercise this allows very inexperienced musicians to feel a sense of accomplishment when practicing outside the teaching environment as well as giving more accomplished musicians the feedback they need for continuous improvement.

The sealing ring has an outer circumferential surface with at least one circumferential groove. The sealing ring also has an inner circumferential surface with at least one circumferential sealing When the sealing ring is in an installed state, limbs of the at least one sealing lip each form a defined angle with the running surface. The defined angles are formed, starting from an initial angle, by deforming the sealing ring during installation. The sealing ring is twisted about a center of its profile during the installation.

Abstract: Carbon dioxide is removed from a source gas stream by admission to a vessel containing a quantity of a material preferentially absorbing carbon dioxide. The carbon dioxide content of an escaping gas stream is monitored. When the carbon dioxide content of the escaping gas stream indicates that absorbent is saturated with carbon dioxide, an inlet valve is closed, and a vacuum applied, causing the carbon dioxide to be desorbed for collection.

Abstract: A reclaiming apparatus 106 includes: a sealed container 106a that is an absorbent reservoir for storing therein a part of an absorbent that has absorbed CO2 in flue gas, and a heater that heats the absorbent stored in the sealed container 106a. The reclaiming apparatus 106 distributes a part of the absorbent stored in the sealed container 106a, and brings the distributed absorbent into counter-current contact with steam. Because a part of the absorbent stored in the absorbent reservoir is brought into counter-current contact with the steam, absorbent component contained therein becomes volatilized, and is separated from depleted materials. In this manner, the absorbent component can be extracted from the depleted materials, and a loss of the absorbent can be reduced.

Abstract: An off gas extraction system provides superior results to other systems for cleaning polluted soil. Off gas is extracted, followed by compression and condensation. Compression and condensation produce an off gas further treated to produce pollutant-free exhaust. A regenerative adsorber cleans the influent gas/air by adsorbing residual chemical vapor and concentrates the removed chemical vapor and reprocesses them. Conventional scrubbers are used on the back end of the system to produce a final exhaust as prescribed by environmental regulation. Methods of accomplishing the same are likewise taught including combinations and additions consistent with schemes as they evolve.
