Abstract: An atomizing injector comprises a body having a central bore with a valve situated in the bore, leading to a chamber. An actuator moves the valve between closed condition and open conditions, selectively exposing the chamber to a flow of pressurized liquid. A discharge port extends from the chamber to a discharge orifice. A swirl element is situated in the chamber, while leaving a free space in the chamber immediately above the discharge port. When the valve is opened, liquid flows into the chamber, through the swirl element into the space, forming a whirl in the space before passing through the discharge port and exiting the discharge orifice as an atomized whirling spray.

Abstract: A fuel injector for fuel injection systems of internal combustion engines. The valve includes an electromagnetic actuating element which has a solenoid, a solid core, an external magnetic circuit component, and a movable armature for activating a valve closing member which cooperates with a valve seat surface provided on a valve seat member. The valve has extremely small outer dimensions. By optimizing the dimensions of the electromagnetic circuit, the outer diameter of the external magnetic circuit component in the peripheral area of the solenoid is 10.5 mm<DM<13.5 mm. This increases the flexibility in installing fuel injectors having different valve lengths, which are made possible due to the special modular design. The valve is suitable as a fuel injector in particular for use in fuel injection systems of mixture-compressing, spark ignition internal combustion engines.

Abstract: To improve throughput of biomedical waste treatment, the present inventors devised an exemplary ozone-based system including a shredder, a roll-off treatment bin with ozone injectors, an ozone source, and a controller. The controller monitors electric current drawn by the shredder as shredded waste enters the ozone-enriched treatment bin. In response to current falling below a predetermined low level, indicating that a batch of waste has been shredded and loaded into the treatment bin, the controller starts a treatment timer. The timer measures elapsed ozone treatment or exposure time. If additional waste is added to the shredder and a subsequent low-current condition is detected, the controller restarts the treatment timer. Expiration of the timer indicates that the waste in the roll-off bin is sterilized and ready for transport to landfills. The exemplary system provides continuous waste processing and promises to boost throughput by 50% over some conventional ozone-based waste-treatment systems.

Abstract: An aircraft for vertical take-off and landing. The aircraft comprises a first wing, a second wing and a fuselage. The first wing comprises a first longitudinal wing axis and the second wing comprises a second longitudinal wing axis. The first wing extends along the first longitudinal wing axis and the second wing extends along the second longitudinal wing axis from the fuselage. The first wing is tiltable with a first rotational direction around the first longitudinal wing axis and the second wing is tiltable with a second rotational direction around the second longitudinal wing axis. In a fixed-wing flight mode, the wings do not rotate around a second axis. In a hover flight mode, the wings are tilted around the longitudinal wing axis with respect to its orientation in the fixed-wing flight mode and that the wing rotates around the second axis.
