Publication number: 20140061373Abstract: An e-Taxi system has a landing gear wheel and a motor for the landing gear wheel. A main controller communicates with an aircraft tiller, which is operable to send signals to the main control relative to desired steering through the landing gear wheel. A disable/enable switch selectively enables or disables the e-Taxi drive of the landing gear wheel and a reverse/forward switch is provided comparable to demand a desired direction of drive of the landing gear wheel.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 31, 2012Publication date: March 6, 2014Inventor: Michael Krenz

Publication number: 20140061374Abstract: A method for reducing maintenance and increasing the effective life of an aircraft's landing gear, thereby increasing the aircraft's flight and landing cycles is provided. The present method eliminates adverse stresses and forces produced on landing gear components by the operation of a tow vehicle to tow the aircraft on the ground by providing an onboard wheel driver that is powered to drive at least one of the aircraft's nose wheels or main wheels to move the aircraft on the ground. Movement of the aircraft on the ground is controlled by the operation of the driver-powered drive wheel, eliminating the possibility of damage to landing gear components associated with tug operation.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 24, 2012Publication date: March 6, 2014Inventors: Isaiah W. Cox, Jan Vana, Rodney T. Cox

Publication number: 20140061375Abstract: An assembly for mounting a turbine engine to a pylon includes a mounting beam, a plurality of fasteners, a first mounting linkage and a second mounting linkage. The mounting beam includes a mount beam fitting that extends axially between a first mount beam end and a second mount beam end, and a mount beam flange that extends radially out from the mount beam fitting at the first mount beam end. A first fastener aperture extends radially through the mount beam fitting, and a second fastener aperture extends axially through the mount beam flange. The fasteners connect the mounting beam to the pylon. A first of the fasteners is mated with the first fastener aperture, and a second of the fasteners is mated with the second fastener aperture. The first mounting linkage connects the first mount beam end to a first engine attachment. The second mounting linkage connects the second mount beam end to second engine attachments.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 31, 2012Publication date: March 6, 2014Applicant: United Technologies CorporationInventors: David F. Publication number: 20140061378Abstract: For retrieval of a hovering aircraft, a cable, bar, or similar fixture is suspended in an approximately horizontal orientation across the retrieval area between two well-separated supports. The aircraft slowly flies into this fixture, which then slides along the aircraft in a direction approximately parallel with the aircraft's thrust line. This leads to the aircraft becoming fastened to the fixture by an interceptor or aircraft capturer, which in alternative embodiments are respectively on the aircraft or the fixture or both. Thrust is then reduced, and the aircraft comes to rest hanging from the fixture for subsequent removal. Retrieval is thus accomplished with simple and economical apparatus, light and unobtrusive elements on the aircraft, low risk of damage, and only moderate piloting accuracy.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 17, 2012Publication date: March 6, 2014Applicant: AEROVEL CORPORATIONInventor: Aerovel Corporation
