Abstract: Provided is a method and apparatus for reducing transmission of location information when tracking the geographic location of one or more mobile devices. A mobile device generates location information using GPS technology and provides the location information to a communication device on an ongoing basis. In a first embodiment, if the location information of the mobile device is not needed, then the communication device transmits a message indicating that the location information of the mobile device is not needed. Upon receiving the message, the mobile device stops providing location information to the communication device on the ongoing basis. This can reduce the amount of information that gets transferred over the air between users sharing their location information.

Abstract: The invention relates to a protective frame for a mobile communication device having a power charging port. The protective frame has a retractable frame body, including a main frame body; a sliding element for reciprocatingly sliding along a direction with respect to the main frame body between a retracted protection position where the mobile communication device is fixedly framed by the retractable frame body and a stretched auxiliary power supply position; and a fastening element for fixing the sliding element with respect to the main frame body at the retracted protection position and the stretched auxiliary power supply position. The protective frame also includes an auxiliary battery adapted for being detachably installed in the retractable frame body and electrically connected to the power charging port of the mobile communication device, when the sliding element are fixed with respect to the main frame body at the stretched auxiliary power supply position.

Abstract: An attitude detector installed in a cabinet detects the current attitude of the cabinet. Control circuitry suppresses radiated output power of a wireless transceiver in accordance with the current attitude of the cabinet, which is detected by the attitude detection unit. The attitude detection unit obtains two angles ? and ? based on x-axis, y-axis, and z-axis outputs of a three-axis acceleration sensor, for example. The control circuitry determines the necessity or lack thereof of the suppression of the radiated output power in accordance with a combination of the angle values.

Abstract: A system and method for a quick draw contest simulation involves two players using weapons to fire non-lethal projectiles or infrared signals at each other. Optional draw sensors, such as pressure sensors, contact sensors or switches, may be used to determine draw times based on when the players touch their weapons or remove them from their holstered positions. Firing sensors, such as motion detectors, pressure sensors, or infrared receivers, are used to determine firing times when the weapons are fired and optionally, also whether the projectiles or infrared signals hit the opposing players. The firing sensors and optional draw sensors communicate with a processor which executes program instructions stored on a memory component to determine a contest winner based on firing times and whether the opposing player was hit. The processor also causes an output device to indicate the contest winner and performance metrics of the players.

Abstract: A mobile computing device includes a processor configured to receive position information from a position sensor and a display controlled by the processor. The device also includes a storage medium accessible to the processor and bearing instructions which, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to receive user input to challenge a friend's mobile device to an exercise, upload the challenge to a server, and receive a signal from the server indicating the challenge is accepted. The instructions cause the processor to upload to the server position information at a predetermined start time and receive from the server map information presenting a position of the mobile device and a position of the friend's mobile device. Further, the instructions cause the processor to receive updates of the map information including updates of the position of the mobile device and the position of the friend's mobile device periodically during the exercise.

Abstract: A card game is described in which two hands of cards are dealt, and players are invited to wager on whether one hand or the other will win, or whether the hands will tie. The hands may initially be formed from two cards each, and further cards may be added to the hands on the basis of a predetermined dealing tableau. Determination of the winner may be on the basis of a modified blackjack scoring system which provides for a winner even if both hands have totals over 21. In an alternative embodiment, the initial hands are formed from five cards each and the winning hand is determined by determining ascribing a rank value to the five-card combination and determining that the winning hand is the hand with the higher rank value. In some embodiments, the rank value may represent the highest-ranking poker hand which can be formed from the cards of each hand, and the winner will be the hand from which the higher-ranking poker hand can be formed.
