Abstract: Systems and methods related to effective measurements in a cellular communications network are disclosed. In one embodiment, a network node obtains a reference measurement performed by a measuring node, where the reference measurement contains one or more interference components. The reference measurement may be, for instance, a reference signal quality measurement or a reference signal power measurement. The network node then mitigates at least one of the interference components contained in the reference measurement to thereby provide an effective measurement for the measuring node. In one embodiment, the network node mitigates the at least one interference component by obtaining a compensation value for mitigating the at least one interference component and applying the compensation value to the reference measurement to thereby provide the effective measurement.

Abstract: A system is described for a computer-based word-guessing game that can be used to elicit market-research data, specifically sentiment and awareness data. The two-person game involves a clue giver and a guesser, each playing on their own mobile device. The clue giver sends clues to induce the guesser to guess a given target word or phrase before a countdown clock runs out. The clues used and the guesses made can be analyzed to reveal the opinions and knowledge that the players have about products, brands, and people. The game features a novel mechanic in which the clue words are categorized according to how obvious they are. Using more-obvious clues causes the countdown clock to decrement faster, thereby making the game play more strategic and entertaining, while also incentivizing the clue giver to use less-obvious, sentiment-oriented words that are more useful for market-research purposes.

Abstract: Fantasy sports-based competition website where users pit their sports knowledge against other users for the opportunity to win cash prizes. Contestants utilize their knowledge of the situational elements of the sporting events involved, to predict the winners for each statistical category listed. Contestants apply their analysis for accumulated statistics and pick winners in each category from an identical fantasy roster presented to multiple contestants. In the event of a tie, there is a tiebreaker question where the contestants are asked to make a projection for a total accumulated statistic for all athletes combined. This results in a clear winner for each contest, so the contestant that comes closest to the actual value will be declared the winners. All contestants can challenge each other, or can be paired randomly with each other and the picks of the competing users are not revealed prior to all users having entered their picks.
