Publication number: 20140191523Abstract: A tablet computer holding device having a rigid and substantially rectangular base is provided. A pair of upstanding walls extends vertically upward from the perimeter of the base and partially bound the base. The upstanding walls provide a widened area for a user to grip. The upstanding walls extend along a pair of opposing sides of the holding device and wrap around the corners thereof, such that the upstanding walls resemble a pair of opposing U-shapes. Since the upstanding walls do not extend around the entire base, inputs and buttons disposed on the sides of the tablet computer can be easily accessed. A plurality of elongated ridges is disposed about the perimeter of the holding device to facilitate grasping the holding device. One or more fasteners, such as clips, are disposed on the periphery of the base and are used to securely hold a tablet computer in place thereon.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 18, 2014Publication date: July 10, 2014Inventor: Allan R. Publication number: 20140191524Abstract: A lithographically structured device has an actuation layer and a control layer operatively connected to the actuation layer. The actuation layer includes a stress layer and a neutral layer that is constructed of materials and with a structure such that it stores torsional energy upon being constructed. The control layer is constructed to maintain the actuation layer substantially in a first configuration in a local environmental condition and is responsive to a change in the local environmental condition such that it permits a release of stored torsional energy to cause a change in a structural configuration of the lithographically structured device to a second configuration, the control layer thereby providing a trigger mechanism. The lithographically structured device has a maximum dimension that is less than about 10 mm when it is in the second configuration.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 12, 2014Publication date: July 10, 2014Applicant: The Johns Hopkins UniversityInventors: DAVID H. Publication number: 20140191564Abstract: The present turbine fan rim, turbine fan airless tire and turbine fan hubcap designs are configured to remove air from under the underside of a moving vehicle when rotated in a particular direction, typically in a forward direction. This air movement can create a vacuum below the vehicle, which can create a down force on the vehicle increasing traction between the vehicle's tires and the road surface and lowering the vehicle's center of gravity. This downward force and partial vacuum can thus increase as the rotational velocity of the tires increases, providing greater traction at higher speeds. An additional benefit to these wheel, airless tire, and hubcap designs is the cooling effect that would be created by the flowing air on brake parts that are located near wheels of nearly all vehicles.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 7, 2013Publication date: July 10, 2014Inventor: Gary Gebeau

Publication number: 20140191566Abstract: A vehicle wheel having a rim, or a rim of a vehicle wheel, is provided wherein the rim consists of a fiber-reinforced plastic material in the form of several layers of a fiber-reinforced semi-finished plastic product. The layers are shaped to form a finished component in a press while heat is supplied. The rim conventionally consists of a rim well, whose two sides are adjoined by a rim shoulder, which transitions into a rim flange. The rim well is formed by several layers of a base laminate, which extends to the rim flange, between which layers further layers are inserted in the area of the rim shoulder as well as of the rim flange. The further layers have an essentially tangential fiber alignment.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 13, 2014Publication date: July 10, 2014Applicants: Bayerische Motoren Werke Aktiengesellschaft, Kringlan Composites AG, BBS Motorsport GmbHInventors: Hubert BURLEFINGER, Markus TOMASINI, Niccolo PINI, Roman MUELLER

Publication number: 20140191567Abstract: A meter device for a vehicle has a meter module protruded on a dashboard. A chassis module installed in the dashboard is extending on a front side of the meter module. The chassis module has a projection module having a laser light source and a reflector. The chassis module further has an indicator module which displays a character or a sign. The chassis module, the meter module, the indicator module, and the projection module are formed in an assembly which can be handled as a single unit. The projection module projects an image on the meter module by reflecting laser light. The laser light is reflected by the reflector toward the meter module from an obliquely lower side on the front side of the meter module. The meter module may have a cover member provided by a liquid-crystal shutter board and/or a touch panel.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 8, 2013Publication date: July 10, 2014Applicants: DENSO CORPORATION, DENSO International America, Inc.Inventor: Hiroshi Tominaga

Publication number: 20140191568Abstract: A system and method for powering or charging multiple receivers wirelessly with a power transmitter. In accordance with an embodiment, to enable ease of use, it is desirable that the receiver can be placed on a larger surface area charger without the need for specific alignment of the position of the receiver; that the system can be used to charge or power multiple devices of similar or different power and voltage requirements or operating with different wireless charging protocols on or near the same surface; and that a degree of freedom is provided with respect to vertical distance (away from the surface of the charger) between the charger and the receivers. Such features enable improved functionality with devices, vehicles, or other products, including, for example, charging of electric vehicles (EV), and trains.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 14, 2013Publication date: July 10, 2014Applicant: MOJO MOBILITY, INC.Inventor: MOJO MOBILITY, INC.

Publication number: 20140191569Abstract: A feeding connector that connects a vehicle with an external power receiving device when electric power is fed from the vehicle to the power receiving device is allowed to be fitted to a connecting portion to which a charging connector that connects the vehicle with an external feeding device is fitted when an electric storage device installed on the vehicle is charged with electric power from the feeding device, and, when the feeding connector is in a particular condition of fit with the connecting portion, an impedance of a particular signal path provided in the feeding connector falls within an impedance range for feeding which is set as a range of impedance different from an impedance range for charging which is set as a range of impedance of a signal path provided in the charging connector and corresponding to the particular signal path. A method for identifying the feeding connector, a system for identifying the feeding connector, and a feeding system using the feeding connector are also provided.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 31, 2012Publication date: July 10, 2014Inventors: Hiroki Sawada, Yasuo Suzuki, Yuka Niikawa

Publication number: 20140191571Abstract: A power supply control apparatus has a voltage detection unit that detects output voltage of a battery or alternator; a condition acquisition unit that acquires an engine condition; a voltage transformation unit that raises or lowers output voltage; a switching unit that switches power supply to in-vehicle devices to either of the output voltage and a voltage transformed by the voltage transformation unit; and a control unit that outputs instruction to the switching unit based on the output voltage value and the engine condition. The switching unit switches the power supply destination between a first in-vehicle device group to which a voltage higher than V1 is to be supplied and a second different in-vehicle device group and the control unit outputs instruction to lower or raise the voltage to the voltage transformation unit, and outputs instruction to switch between the first and second in-vehicle device groups to the switching unit.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 6, 2012Publication date: July 10, 2014Applicants: AUTONETWORKS TECHNOLOGIES, LTD., SUMITOMO ELECTRIC INDUSTRIES, LTD., SUMITOMO WIRING SYSTEMS, LTD.Inventor: Masayoshi Imoto
