Abstract: A process for treating a zirconium containing feedstock includes fluorinating a feedstock comprising dissociated zircon (‘DZ’) to obtain a zirconium fluorine compound and a silicon fluorine compound. The zirconium fluorine compound is separated from the silicon fluorine compound is provided. Optionally, the zirconium fluorine compound is reacted with a non-fluorine halogen, an alkali metal non-fluorine halide or an alkaline-earth metal non-fluorine halide, thereby to obtain a zirconium non-fluorine halide. The zirconium fluorine compound or, when present, the zirconium non-fluorine halide is subjected to plasma reduction, in a plasma reduction stage, in the presence of a reductant, to obtain metallic zirconium.

Abstract: An aircraft has a ventilation system that employs a plurality of nozzles positioned in a cavity between a sidewall of the aircraft cabin and a section of the aircraft fuselage. The nozzles receive a supply of ventilation air and direct jets of air from the nozzles, through the cavity and into the aircraft cabin. The jets of air produced by the nozzles create low-pressure areas in the cavity. At least one return air opening in the cabin sidewall communicates the low-pressure areas with the cabin interior, whereby the low pressure areas draw air from the cabin interior into the cavity where the drawn air is entrained with the jets of air produced by the nozzles. Devices inside the cavity remove suspended impurities from the air drawn into the cavity. In this manner, the ventilation system filters or sanitizes the air drawn through the system.

Abstract: The group of inventions relates to the technology for purifying liquids and gases by removal of contaminating multicomponent ingredients. The device comprises a housing comprising at least one hollow spiral element with a conical shape, with separation openings being formed in at least some of the turns of the spiral element, each of the openings communicating with a corresponding separation chamber. Arranged opposite the separation opening is a nozzle, which is intended for compensating for the mass and centrifugal moment of the fluid medium. A guide element around which a flow passes is mounted on the wall of the nozzle. The cross-sectional area and the radius of each successive turn is selected from the condition for maintaining an estimated value for the centrifugal moment of the substance to be purified. The method consists in that a flow of medium to be purified is spun by the above-described device. Contaminating components in each turn are positioned by coaxial layers.
