The shear-thinning fluid having a greater apparent viscosity at low shear rates to spin-stabilize the non-lethal projectile during flight and a lower apparent viscosity at a high shear rate corresponding with the shear-thinning fluid shearing against the frangible cap upon the non-lethal projectile striking the target, with the low viscosity of the shear-thinning fluid allowing proper dispersal upon impact with the target. The shear-thinning fluid can comprise a marking media and be in the form of an emulsion with less than about 50% liquid by volume to effectively disperse upon impact with the target.

Abstract: A projectile includes a head, a tail, and an interface that interconnects the head and tail. Multiple sections of the interface are deformed by being compressed radially inwardly into respective annular recesses formed between the interface and the head and tail during manufacturing or by rifling when the projectile is fired. The amount of deformation is controlled by the depth of each of the annular recesses. In all embodiments, annular ridges formed in the head, the tail, or both, define the longitudinal extent of the annular recesses. The interface includes an annular obturation region and has a beveled open leading end to facilitate insertion of the head and tail into the interface.

Abstract: An asphalt roofing material recycling system and method is used to recycle new and used asphalt materials, such as asphalt shingles, rolled roofing and tar paper that may include granules, fibers or other particles. The asphalt material is broken up and separated and then provided to a recycling vessel. When the recycling vessel is operated in a cooled mode, dry ice may be added along with the asphalt material to be recycled. The dry ice removes any moisture present and super-cools the material making it brittle and easier to chip and break up. The recycle vessel includes a number of devices as well as at least one horizontal mixer element which stirs the material and makes sure all material is ground. The resulting course to fine powder can be sorted by screening and stored as power or compressed into bricks or briquettes for later use in making various products.

Abstract: An approach is provided to cause an operation comprising one or more of a substrate tamping process, a substrate offset process, and a mechanism actuation process. The approach involves determining an instruction to cause the operation. The approach also involves causing a movement of one or more of a slide element and a shaft based on the instruction. The slide element and the shaft are configured to move in a first direction and a second direction along a length of the shaft. The movement in the first direction and the second direction of one or more of the slide element and the shaft corresponds to the operation.

Abstract: Provided is a substrate processing apparatus. The substrate processing apparatus includes a chamber in which a processing space is defined, a substrate support disposed in the chamber and supporting a substrate; and an upper electrode to which a radio frequency (RF) power is applied, the upper electrode facing the substrate support. The substrate support includes a plurality of ground electrodes spaced apart from each other and independently controlled so that plasma is uniformly generated to an edge area of the substrate support between the upper electrode and the substrate support. The substrate processing apparatus may uniformly control plasma distribution or density on a substrate and a periphery of the substrate and may uniformly control plasma distribution or density in the central area of the substrate and the edge area of the substrate.

Abstract: A film forming device forms a thin film on a substrate by reacting reaction gases in a process vessel. Electrode portions each oriented vertically are arranged to be spaced from each other in a horizontal direction. By applying high-frequency powers having different phases to adjacent electrode portions, a strong plasma generation space is formed above the substrate placed on a mounting table, while a weak plasma generation space is formed in the gap between the electrode portions and the substrate. A first reaction gas is supplied to the strong plasma generation space and a second reaction gas that forms the thin film by reacting with the active species of the first reaction gas is supplied to the weak plasma generation space. The reaction gases in the weak plasma generation space are discharged through exhaust channels.

Abstract: Systems are provided that include one or more retractable deposition source assemblies that eliminate the need for a bellows, but do not require breaking the ultra-high vacuum of a growth module for source replacement or recharging with deposition material. Systems of the present invention may include source heads that allow for a differential pumping option that provides marked improvement in base pressure around the source head (and material) that provides longer lifetimes for sources in corrosive, reactive or oxidizing environments. In addition, systems of the invention do not require an entire growth module to be vented to refill or repair an effusion source. Instead, for maintenance events that are tied to a specific source, a retractable source assembly of the present invention allows the sources to be withdrawn from the system, isolated from the growth environment, and removed without venting the entire chamber of the growth module.
