Abstract: The current subject matter describes a delivery of medication to a patient based on a scan of a medication container by a scanner implemented on an infusion system. The medication can include oral medications, injection medications, patches, and/or medication drops. The scanner can scan a machine-readable representation (for example, a barcode) on the medication container to obtain recommended delivery data. A user interface device of the infusion system can display the recommended delivery data on a graphical user interface. Based on the recommended delivery data and based on a patient diagnosis by a clinician, the clinician can determine actual delivery data. Based on the determined actual delivery data, the medication can be delivered to the patient via a non-infusion channel. Related apparatus, systems, techniques and articles are also described.

Abstract: A self-checkout kiosk enables a patron to purchase or allocate to an account a product displayed in a vending area and carrying a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tag. The patron exits the vending area through a security portal. The kiosk, a bill acceptor, a computer monitor and/or a mobile device enables the patron to complete a purchase or allocate transaction prior to exiting the vending area through the portal. The portal includes RFID reading antennas for marking products stolen when transferred through the portal without a transaction. Alternatively, a smart shelf keeps track of products on the smart shelf and keeps a checkout tally of removed products. If the patron does not complete a purchase or allocate transaction, or returns the product to the smart shelf within a user-defined set of time, the smart shelf will mark the product as stolen. Abstract: Remote control of energy consumption is realized using a readily installable, flexible approach. According to an example embodiment of the present invention, a remote source communicates with a wireless controller for executing energy usage control. The remote source sends signals to the wireless controller via a gateway located near or, in one implementation, forming part of the wireless controller. In response to the signals, the wireless controller sets control settings for operating one or more of a variety of equipment types, such as a furnace, air conditioner, water heater or heat pump. With this approach, wired connections from the gateway to energy-consuming equipment do not necessarily need to be made in order to affect remote energy-consumption control. For instance, when used in connection with a controller wired to the energy-consuming equipment, the gateway need only communicate wirelessly with the controller and does not necessarily need to be coupled to the energy-consuming equipment.

Abstract: A needle body for a fuel injector that controls or prevents high pressure fuel leaks by dynamically controlling the size of the clearance between a longitudinal bore in a nozzle body and the needle that travels along the bore. The longitudinal bore passes through a body portion and a clearance control protrusion of the needle body. The clearance control protrusion extends from the body portion into a nozzle chamber of a nozzle section of the fuel injector. The clearance control protrusion is configured to prevent expansion of the clearance that is typically associated with hydraulic forces caused by pressurized fuel in the clearance. The clearance control protrusion is configured so that as fuel pressure in the nozzle chamber increases, hydraulic forces act against an outer surface of the clearance control protrusion to prevent expansion of the portion of the clearance positioned within the clearance control protrusion.

Abstract: A method for recycling adhesive-containing film waste. The film waste is initially coarsely chopped in a chopping device. A liquid or powdered additive that reduces the strength of the adhesive on the film waste is added to material in the chopping device or sprayed on components of the chopping device. The waste material exits the chopping device through a perforated sheet as clumps of material, which are then fed into an agglomerator, where they are agglomerated or compacted into strands of material. The temperature in the agglomerator is between 100 and 200 degrees C., i.e., below the melting point of the material of the film. The strands exiting the agglomerator are then cut to granule size.
