Abstract: A modular music synthesizer is implemented in a hybrid design incorporating both hardware implementation and software implementation. A plurality of hexagonal-shaped modules are assembled and connected by the user-artist to configure a visual presentation of synthesizer signal generation and signal processing functions. The synthesizer visually replicates hardware functionality by incorporating user controls on many of the modules that are connected to enclosed (embedded) circuit boards. These circuit boards communicate with a system CPU (computer processing unit) that operates softsynth software resident within the CPU to drive audio output. The configuration of the softsynth is determined by the physical arrangement of hardware hexagonal modules that represent the functionality of software modules. The hardware modules provide user interface elements corresponding to parameters of their softsynth counterparts.

Abstract: A hydrostatic axial piston machine includes a swashplate with an oblique surface formed thereon. Working pistons, which revolve and are supported by the oblique surface, are axially positioned on the swashplate with respect to a drive shaft. An adjusting cylinder, coupled to the swashplate, is configured to produce a pivoting moment and pivot the swashplate about a pivoting axis. Displacement of the working cylinders per revolution around the drive shaft is adjustable by adjusting a pivoting angle of the oblique surface. The adjustment of the pivoting angle is configured to pass beyond zero degrees, such that the direction of rotation of the drive shaft is changeable. The pivoting axis is at a distance from an axis of rotation of the drive shaft, such that an internal counter pivoting moment counteracting the pivoting moment is produced during operation of the axial piston machine when the working pistons are subjected to pressure.

Abstract: A burner has a fuel/oxidant nozzles and a pair of dynamical lances spaced on either side thereof that inject a jet of fuel and primary oxidant along a fuel injection axis, and jets of secondary oxidant, respectively. Jets of actuating fluid impinge against the jets of secondary oxidant to fluidically angle the jets of secondary oxidant away from the fuel injection axis. The action of the angling away together with staging of the oxidant between primary and secondary oxidant injections allows achievement of distributed combustion conditions.
