Publication number: 20160008770Abstract: Disclosed is a method for producing a hollow fiber carbon membrane using a hollow fiber carbon membrane-forming material by means of a dry method or dry-wet method comprising a spinning step, a drying step, an infusibilization step, and a carbonization step as basic steps; wherein in the infusibilization step, heat treatment is performed at least two times at different temperatures, with the second temperature being higher than the first temperature. It is preferable that the second heat treatment is performed directly after the first treatment is performed, without once cooling to room temperature. The obtained hollow fiber carbon membrane has improved permeability, without reducing its separation coefficient.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 26, 2014Publication date: January 14, 2016Inventors: Hirokazu Yamamoto, Yusuke Ikawa, Yutaka Koda

Publication number: 20160008772Abstract: The invention relates to membranes formed from long chain branched fluoropolymers, and especially long chain branched homopolymers and copolymers of polyvinylidene fluoride such as KYNAR resins. The novel membranes retain all the advantages of a fluoropolymer membrane (excellent chemical resistance especially to strong acids and oxidizing agents, and good mechanical strength), and additionally offer improved permeability, improved strain hardening, and even better resistance to caustic attacks. The improvements are believed to be related to an improvement to the microstructure of the membranes, producing a more open structure due to the long chain branched fluoropolymers. Further improvements in the mechanical properties of the membranes can be induced by strain hardening.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 27, 2014Publication date: January 14, 2016Inventors: Walter P. Microfluidic processing systems are to carry out chemical or biochemical reactions, or sequences of reactions, with small volumes (typically between 1 microliter and 10 milliliters) of reactants and products. A microfluidic processing system can comprise a network of tubes interfaced with discrete components such as valves and sensors, or an integrated device made of plastic, glass, metal, or other materials, or a combination of materials, with components such as valves and sensors built into the device and connected by flow passageways formed in the material.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 3, 2014Publication date: January 14, 2016Inventors: Daniel Laser, Amy Droitcour, Hailemariam Negussie, William Behnke-Parks

Publication number: 20160008812Abstract: Provided is a fluidic device including: a base member; a porous layer provided over the base member; a flow path wall provided in the porous layer; and a flow path defined by an inner surface of the flow path wall and the base member. Linearity of the fluidic device is 30% or less, where the linearity is obtained by the following formula: Linearity (%)={[A (mm)?B (mm)]/B (mm)}×100, where a length B is a length of a straight line between arbitrary two points on a contour of the inner surface of the flow path wall, and a length A is a length of a continuous line between the two points.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 28, 2014Publication date: January 14, 2016Inventor: Rie KOBAYASHI

Publication number: 20160008814Abstract: A system and method for capturing and analyzing cells comprising: a fluid delivery module; a reservoir configured to receive a biological sample including a target cell population and at least one fluid from the fluid delivery module; a manifold configured to receive and distribute the biological sample and at least one fluid from the reservoir into a cell capture device; a waste chamber configured to couple to the manifold; and a pump configured to couple to the waste chamber. In embodiments of the system configured to promote further purification of captured cells, the system can further comprise a magnet that enables further separation of captured cells from undesired sample materials. The system can additionally further comprise a heater configured to heat at least one fluid and/or biological sample, and a cell capture device configured to couple to the manifold, in order to facilitate capture of the target cell population.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 23, 2015Publication date: January 14, 2016Inventors: Kalyan Handique, Kyle Gleason, Austin Payne, Priyadarshini Gogoi, Saedeh Sepehri Javdani, Christopher Siemer, Yi Zhou

Publication number: 20160008816Abstract: A gas spring biased access cover for a material handling attachment. The gas spring biased access cover having a cover plate sized to substantially cover an access opening in a top plate of the main body of the material handling attachment. The cover plate is pivotally movable between a closed position in which the access opening is substantially covered and an open position in which the access opening is substantially unobstructed by the cover plate. At least one gas spring biases the cover plate in the open position. An access cover fastener secures the cover plate in the closed position.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 15, 2013Publication date: January 14, 2016Inventors: Chad WOOD, Daniel J. RAIHALA

Publication number: 20160008817Abstract: A gyratory crusher eccentric support assembly supports the gyroscopic precession of a main shaft extending through the crusher. The eccentric assembly includes an inner bushing retained in position by a surrounding sleeve with the sleeve supported at its axially uppermost region by an annular support ring. A locking flange prevents axial displacement of the bushing that is configured specifically to facilitate the removal and replacement of the bushing wear part.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 27, 2014Publication date: January 14, 2016Inventors: Axel BERGMAN, Bengt-Arne ERIKSSON, Mikael M. Publication number: 20160008818Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a cone-shaped crusher. The cone-shaped crusher includes a main shaft, a mantle core assembly which is coupled to and movable up and down the main shaft, and a crushing gap control support positioned below the mantle core assembly and fixed to the main shaft . In addition, the crushing gap control support has an annular cylindrical unit extending upward therefrom and receiving a piston unit which extends downward from the mantle core assembly so that the piston unit is movable up and down in the cylindrical unit . The whole mantle core assembly formed with the piston unit moves up and down by a pressure of hydraulic oil flowing in and out of an internal space of the cylindrical unit.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 8, 2013Publication date: January 14, 2016Inventor: Yong-Gan HA
