Publication number: 20160069132Abstract: A slatted horizontal blinds system has separate positional controls for distinct subsets of slats. Odd and even slats can be moved relative to each other both horizontally and vertically. With a scalloped upper and lower edge, overlapping slats can produce a variety of light allowing and esthetic modes. Some versions only support up and down movement and some slats are rectangular. This is caused by hiding and exposing of slat portions and voids between slats by the relative movement of odd and even slats. Slats may have translucent colored portions, apertures or printed designs. The absolute movement may only be of one subset of slats while other slats stay in position. In other cases all slats can move simultaneously in relation to each other. Mechanisms include screw drive with “lost motion” operation and movement latches. Also slidable carriages, end-cams, and linear motors can be used. In some cases the bottom rail has mechanisms as well as the head rail.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 31, 2015Publication date: March 10, 2016Applicant: DIAMOND VIEW TECHNOLOGY, LLCInventors: James Safarik, George P. The rotation brake comprises a brake lock that is actuated by a cylinder and spring to interact with a non-rotating brake cap and a rotating pinion, thereby stopping rotation of the pinion. The brake lock is removed from the pinion by applying pressurized fluid to a cylinder such that a cylinder rod moves the brake lock out of a cavity between the brake cap and the pinion. Upon removing fluid pressure from the cylinder, a compressed spring moves the brake lock back to into the cavity, preventing rotation.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 4, 2015Publication date: March 10, 2016Inventors: Max A. Publication number: 20160069137Abstract: An apparatus including a housing, a shaft rotatably extending through the housing, and a rotary seal assembly contained within the housing for providing a seal between the housing and the shaft. The shaft is capable of an amount of tilting within the housing about a tilting focal point which is axially located along the housing at an axial focal point position. The rotary seal assembly is axially located along the housing at an axial rotary seal position. The axial rotary seal position is substantially axially coincident with the axial focal point position.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 21, 2014Publication date: March 10, 2016Inventor: Kennedy J. Publication number: 20160069138Abstract: Systems and methods are presented for drilling a wellbore with a portion having a short radius of curvature. The systems include a drill assembly having a motor and a tubular housing. An actuator is at least partially disposed within the tubular housing and couples the motor to the tubular housing. The actuator is configured to selectively articulate the drill assembly between a straight configuration and a bent configuration. At least one torque anchor is fluidly-coupled to a trailing end of the drill assembly. Methods are presented for selectively articulating the drill assembly to form the wellbore, including the portion having short radius of curvature. Other systems and methods are presented.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 13, 2015Publication date: March 10, 2016Inventor: Joseph A. Zupanick

Publication number: 20160069139Abstract: A system in which a drill string is disposed within a wellbore that extends from a wellsite surface to a subterranean formation. At least three rotary steerable system (RSS) modules are collectively coupled in series between the drill string and a drill bit. Each RSS module includes at least three steering pads spaced circumferentially apart around a perimeter of the RSS module, and a valve operable to sequentially actuate the steering pads. The system also includes a controller operable to independently actuate the valve of each RSS module simultaneously.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 7, 2014Publication date: March 10, 2016Inventors: Junichi Sugiura, Guy James Rushton

Publication number: 20160069140Abstract: A cutting element for an earth-boring tool includes a substrate and volume of superabrasive material positioned on the substrate. The volume of superabrasive material includes a cutting face having at least one recess extending into the volume of superabrasive material and/or at least one protrusion extending outward from the volume of superabrasive material. The volume of superabrasive material includes a first chamfer surface having a peripheral edge and a radially innermost edge. The peripheral edge of the first chamfer surface is located proximate a cutting edge of the volume of superabrasive material. A radial width of the first chamfer surface is between about 0.002 inch and about 0.045 inch. The volume of superabrasive material also includes a second chamfer surface having a peripheral edge and a radially innermost edge. The peripheral edge of the second chamfer surface is located adjacent the radially innermost edge of the first chamfer surface.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 8, 2014Publication date: March 10, 2016Inventors: Suresh G. Publication number: 20160069141Abstract: A downhole protection apparatus, for use in protecting downhole control lines, comprises a sheath defining a channel configured to receive a control line. The sheath is configured to be attached to a tubing. In wellbore applications, the control lines associated with a tubing are inserted into the sheath such that the body of the sheath at least partially encompasses the control line and shields the control line from harsh downhole conditions which may include abrasive action from sand, proppants, wellbore cuttings and other debris. Therefore, the apparatus is configured such that after insertion of a control line into the channel, a body of the sheath protects the control line from an outside environment.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 2, 2014Publication date: March 10, 2016Inventor: Chris BLACKMON

Publication number: 20160069142Abstract: A drill pipe mountable wellbore cleaning tool apparatus is of an improved configuration that enables attachment to a drill pipe joint having first and second connector end portions and a cylindrically shaped portion in between the connector end portions. The drill pipe joint with attached debris cleaning tool or tools is made part of a drill string. The apparatus includes a support sleeve that is mounted to the drill pipe joint in between the connector end portions. The support sleeve abuts but does not invade the integrity of the cylindrical portion. Centralizers are attached to the opposing ends of the support sleeve, with each centralizer overlapping a portion of the support sleeve. The support sleeve carries one or more debris cleaning tools in between the centralizers. These tools enable debris to be removed from a wellbore. At least one locking clamp is attached to the cylindrical portion next to a said centralizer.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 18, 2015Publication date: March 10, 2016Inventors: Simon Leiper, Kevin Robertson

Publication number: 20160069143Abstract: A skate for an injector apparatus in which gripper dies on a pair of endless chains driven around respective closed loop paths on different sides a continuous wellbore string are forced against the continuous string by forcing a set of the skates toward theretoward from inside the closed loop paths of the endless chains. The inventive skate features a skate body carrying a plurality of spherical balls that are exposed on a side of the skate that faces toward the continuous string in order to allow riding of endless chains over exposed surfaces of the spherical balls as the endless chains are driven through the respective closed-loop paths, whereby the gripper dies ride over the spherical balls of said skates under the forcing of said skates toward the continuous string.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 2, 2014Publication date: March 10, 2016Inventors: Martin E.
