Abstract: Embodiments of the disclosure generally provide coating compositions and methods comprising poly(siloxane) (silicone) polymers and their modification. Plasma fluorine addition (fluorination) improves the barrier properties of poly(siloxane) coatings by decreasing the corrosive permeant solubility and by slowing permeant diffusion through the coating. Surface fluorinated poly(siloxane) coatings are thus more effective barriers to sulfur and sulfurous gas corrosion, and thereby enhance the lifetime of electronic components and associated circuitry.

Abstract: Laminates of polymeric films and solvent-based polyurethane adhesive formulations for preparing them are provided. The adhesive formulations include a hydroxyl-terminated polyester that forms crystalline polyester domains after reaction with an appropriate polyisocyanate, but prior to completion of cure. The result is an adhesive layer that substantially enhances the oxygen barrier properties of the adhesive and, therefore, of the laminate as a whole, while offering desirable convenience of application even at relatively low temperatures. The laminates may also exhibit desirable retention of barrier properties following flex-cracking.

Abstract: A carbon dioxide composition comprising carbon dioxide joined with at least one component comprising oligomers or small molecules to form a viscous carbon dioxide composition useable for improved efficiency in oil removal. The oligomers and small molecules chemically associate with carbon dioxide molecules to increase the viscosity over the carbon dioxide. The component or components may include at least two groups, with one comprising a proton donor group that binds to carbon dioxide, and the other comprising a proton acceptor group. The groups are molecularly arranged such that proton transfer results in associations that repeat to form a large structure to provide increased viscosity. A method of forming and using the viscous carbon dioxide composition involves injecting an additive of oligomers and/or small molecules into a stream of high pressure carbon dioxide adjacent a well head, and injecting the composition into the well.

The liquid crystal compounds having dibenzopyran derivatives with cycloalkyl terminal groups, shown in formula I, exhibit better miscibility and a very large negative dielectric constant, compared to those having a flexible alkyl chain as a terminal group, therefore the compounds of the present invention, shown in formula I, may improve the miscibility of liquid crystal compounds and broaden the application range of liquid crystal mixtures. In addition, the compounds may also increase the negative dielectric constants of liquid crystal mixtures, having an important application value.
