Abstract: The present invention relates to methods for decolorizing a sugar solution obtained from sugar crops, wherein the solution is treated enzymatically with an oxidoreductase resulting in a decrease in color and/or turbidity of the solution. Also described are methods for decolorizing fruit juice solutions using oxidoreductases. Specifically, glucose oxidase, carbohydrate oxidases, glucose dehydrogenase, cellobiose dehydrogenase and glucooligosaccharide oxidase are described. At least action of glucose oxidase results in the formation of a coloured precipitate, which may be removed by filtration or centrifugation.

Abstract: The invention provides a method of treating a food, beverage or cosmetic to inhibit microbial or cellular growth, comprising subjecting the substance to low frequency ultrasound under elevated gas pressure at between 10 and 100 bar, more typically 20 and 500 bar. Abstract: A tobacco material and a process for the treatment of tobacco are provided. The process comprises securing the tobacco within a moisture-retaining material and exposing the tobacco material to an ambient processing temperature of at least about 45° C., with the tobacco having a packing density of at least 200 kg/m3 on a dry matter weight base at the start of the process and a moisture content of between about 10% and 23%. The TSNA content of the tobacco material is maintained at a relatively constant level during the process.

Abstract: Electric heat for generating smoke from tobacco or the like in a hookah type smoking pipe. Electric heat is obtained from an electrically powered heating element which may be placed proximate the tobacco. The heating element may be contained within a housing which in turn may be placed above the smoking chamber of the hookah. The housing may have adjustably damped holes disposed to pass air over the heating element. Electrical circuitry serving the heating element may comprise a step down transformer and a voltage adjusting switch. The heating element may be integral with the hookah, may take the form of a separate component which is mountable over the smoking chamber of the hookah, or may comprise a free standing assembly which may be placed to stand adjacent to the hookah.

Abstract: The present application provides an electronic cigarette and a battery assembly thereof, charging electrodes are arranged on an end surface of an end cap, such that the battery assembly of the electronic cigarette may be directly inserted into a charger to be charged without disassembling an atomizing assembly, therefore the operation is more convenient, and the atomizing assembly is less likely to be lost. Furthermore, an exposed surface of each of two charging electrodes arranged at the end cap has similar embossed pattern as that of the end cap, which realizes an effect of simulating a real cigarette end, thereby improving a user experience. The atomizer is formed by detachably connecting a liquid cup assembly and an atomizer core. A control unit is provided to be electrically connected to the atomizer and the battery rod assembly. A conductive cartridge that is conductive is sleeved on the battery, and the suction nozzle and the conductive cartridge can be conducted. The control unit controls the battery to supply power to the atomizer to atomize cigarette liquid when detecting that the suction nozzle is conducted with the conductive cartridge, which effectively prevents an automatic operation of the atomizer and avoids a waste of the cigarette liquid and the energy while facilitating the user operation.

Abstract: Paper chains have been used by children to make paper jewelry for a century. Decorative patches have been worn throughout history, offering feelings of pride and belonging. My invention consists of at least one computer template that controls the printing of decorative patches on supply paper for paper chain making. Paper chains present two visible sides made up of sets of 2 (half) one-half inch squares. The intent is to increase the visual impact by maximizing the size of decorative patches. The template prints only on those squares that are visible when the paper chain is assembled, reducing printing ink by as much as seventy five percent. The template addresses design problems characteristic of assembly of paper chains. The template eliminates decoration misalignment due to the chain link assembly procedure, and eliminates asymmetry errors due to view reversal that results from the folding of paper chain links.

For fine adjustments, the user may rotate the threaded rod with respect to the tubular shaft to adjust the overall length of the device. For coarse adjustments, the user may disengage the pushbutton and slide the tubular shaft along the longitudinal axis.
