Abstract: A CPU reads out image data from a frame memory line by line, performs logical addition of each bit of readout original image data corresponding to one line and a corresponding bit of each image data acquired by shifting the original image data by one to four bits, and thereby generates image data whose width has been enlarged by four bits. When writing the image data enlarged in the leftward and rightward directions in a ring buffer, the CPU generates image data on a transfer base material which has been enlarged in the upward and downward directions by copying or logical addition. A transfer base material transfer control section outputs the image data on the transfer base material written in the ring buffer for each line to a print head control section under the control of the CPU at predetermined timing.

Abstract: A recording apparatus includes an apparatus main body portion that contains a recorder that performs recording on a recording medium, and a panel having a display unit that displays various information and being capable of opening and closing an upper portion of the apparatus main body portion by pivoting about a first pivot shaft. The panel has an outer perimeter that includes two short sides and two long sides. The display unit has an outline that includes two short sides and two long sides and is provided on the panel so that a longitudinal direction of the display unit coincides with a longitudinal direction of the panel. The longitudinal direction of the panel intersects a direction of the first pivot shaft about which the panel pivots.

Abstract: A printer cleaning device cleans an image receiving surface with a surface preparation material, includes a roller having a perforated cylindrical wall surrounded by a foam material. The cylindrical wall has an interior volume for holding a fluid pumped into the interior volume by a pump. The pressurized fluid flows through the cylindrical wall into the foam material as the roller is moved into engagement with the image receiving surface. The roller is rotated in a direction opposition to a direction of movement of the image receiving surface to help the foam material to scrub the image receiving surface and apply the fluid to the surface. As the roller is moved away from the surface, the foam material expands to facilitate absorption of fluid and remove material from the image receiving surface. The foam material in one embodiment is hydrophobic.

Abstract: A printer cleaning device cleans an image receiving surface treated with a surface preparation material. The cleaning surface includes an applicator that receives fluid from a receptacle and applies a portion of the fluid onto the image receiving surface of a printer. A wiper engages the image receiving surface to remove a portion of dried aqueous ink and fluid from the image receiving surface. The applicator is rotated in a direction opposite to a direction of movement of the image receiving surface. The dried aqueous ink and fluid removed by the wiper are diverted to a conduit to enable a pump to move the dried aqueous ink and fluid through a filter before returning the filtered fluid to the receptacle so the applicator can absorb the filtered fluid.

Abstract: An ink jet printer includes a cleaning blade that cleans the surface of a transport belt that attracts a sheet of recording paper by electrostatic adsorption and transports the attracted recording paper, and a pressing roller. The width of the cleaning blade is smaller than the width of the pressing roller that is located downstream of the cleaning blade, and thus, ink, paper dust, and the like that have escapes from both ends of the cleaning blade to the outside and have not been wiped off are caught by the pressing roller.
