Abstract: A method for promulgating and searching a database of participatory events and providing search result alerts to users. Event organizers enter events into the system using various searchable criteria. A user may search the database or setup a customized search request that the system returns to the user as alerts at predetermined times or as new events are entered into the database. The system tags events stored in the database to facilitate the provision of user alerts based upon preselected user-determined criteria.

Abstract: A system and method for providing a nearby search service using a POI clustering scheme is provided. A nearby search method implemented with a computer includes verifying search request information entered through an electronic device, displaying a map screen on a screen of the electronic device, verifying a search result to be displayed on the map screen according to the verified search request information, dividing the map screen into a plurality of tiles, and displaying a search result, included in each of the divided tiles, as one search result icon corresponding to each of the divided tiles and distinguishably displaying search result icons to be displayed on each of the divided tiles according to the number of search results included in one tile.

Abstract: An example system may include an application programmable interface (API) discovery component to employ a plurality of different search strategies to search a plurality of storage environments to discover APIs associated with an enterprise; an API assessment component to classify the discovered APIs according to a taxonomy of API contexts and store at least a portion of the classified APIs in an API information repository; and an API management component to provide user devices with authorized access to the classified APIs in the API information repository via an API gateway.

Abstract: According to one embodiment of the present invention, a system for managing data within a plurality of data management architectures includes at least one processor. The system persists an entity managed by a first data management architecture to a second data management architecture. The first data management architecture manages entity data within data sources and the second data management architecture manages persisted entities within a common repository. Entity attributes are mapped between the first and second data management architectures. The system further provides one or more supplemental attributes for the persisted (e.g., registration mode or fully persisted mode) entity within the second data management architecture, wherein the supplemental attributes are unmapped between the first and second data management architectures.

Abstract: A virtualization method for large-scale distributed heterogeneous data includes using a three-layer structure and a two-level mapping. According to different abstraction degrees, a data model is defined as three layers from low to high: a physical layer, a virtual table layer, and a virtual view layer. Each layer has a proprietary data model. The two-level mapping comprises a PV mapping and a VV mapping, which is a transformation mechanism of the data models of different layers. As a result, the virtualization method virtualizes decentralized heterogeneous data, and is applicable to data interoperability treatments.

Abstract: A qualifying system receives a channel activity record from one of a plurality of different external systems, over one of a plurality of different communication channels. It accesses qualification rules to determine whether the channel activity record is to be transformed into one or more target entities in a computing system. If so, a conversion engine accesses user-configurable mappings and conversion rules to identify conversion actions that are to be taken in order to transform the channel activity record into one or more target entities. The conversion engine performs a data transformation on the channel activity record to transform it into the identified one or more target entities.

Abstract: A system and method for processing source data, which includes a translation processor configured on a server to translate a stream of source data received at the server into a stream of formatted data types based on one or more of parameter definitions for the source data and new parameter information for the source data having an unknown data type. The source data can be received at the server from multiple sources and the data format may not be consistent from one source to another. An analytics processor on the server can be configured to operate on the out-of-tolerance data type to perform one or more of trend data analytics, associated data analytics and preventative action analytics.

Abstract: A storage system according to certain embodiments includes a client-side signature repository that includes information representative of a set of data blocks stored in primary storage. During storage operations of a client, the system can generate signatures corresponding to data blocks that are being stored in primary storage. The system can store the generated signatures in the client-side signature repository along with information regarding the location of the corresponding data block within primary storage. As additional instances of the data block are stored in primary storage, the system can store the location of the additional instances in the client-side signature repository.

Abstract: Systems and methods for replication replay in a relational database are disclosed. In one embodiment, a relational database includes a master database and a slave database, and events performed on the master database are stored in a log. A portion of the log is provided to a slave replay system associated with the slave database, and the slave replay system identifies a first table row associated with a first event of the portion of the log and a second table row associated with a second event in the portion of the log. The slave replay system replays the first and second events on the slave database in parallel if the first and second rows are different rows with unique sets of values, and otherwise replays the first and second events serially.

Abstract: A computer program product for managing replication configurations includes program instructions to receive a replication configuration for replicating data, wherein the replication configuration defines at least a target table in a target database based on a source table in a source database. The program instructions initialize a federated view, wherein the federated view is based on at least the source table in the source database as defined in the replication configuration. The program instructions utilize the federated view to satisfy requesting applications, where requesting applications obtain data from the federated view. The program instructions to, responsive to determining the replication of data is in spec, utilize the target table in the target database to satisfy requesting applications.

It not only provides compressed information for its users to quickly find out popular themes in the document, but also screens out non-critical information such sentiments and false claiming so that its users can focus on the critical information. The ability to compare positive and negative information side-by-side provides further convenience.

Abstract: By applying a set of simple geometric rules to the connections within a connected graph of ‘topics’ it is possible to uncover hidden relationships that are otherwise inaccessible to the lay person. Interesting, potentially non-obvious threads of content, termed indirect connection clusters (ICCs), can be found from an online encyclopedia or other graph of articles that are not directly connected to a starting topic, but instead are connected via an intermediate clique of articles. A system performing a search of an information graph can receive a request for identifying relevant content, identify (in a traversal of the information graph) one or more ICCs using a starting topic associated with the request, refine the one or more ICCs (eliminating certain ICCs) and generate a refined set of ICCs, and rank ICCs within the refined set. The ranked ICCs can be provided in response to the request for identifying relevant content.

For the respective operation types, respective message structures used by the target endpoint are determined based on commonalities among the ones of the messages of the respective groups corresponding to the operation types. A respective one or more representative points may be extracted from each data block of the plurality of data blocks to represent the respective data block. Abstract: Described is a technology by which a playback list comprising similar songs is automatically built based on automatically detected/generated song attributes, such as by extracting numeric features of each song. The attributes may be downloaded from a remote connection, and/or may be locally generated on the playback device. To build a playlist, a seed song's attributes may be compared against attributes of other songs to determine which other songs are similar to the seed song and thus included in the playlist. Another way to build a playlist is based on similarity of songs to a set of user provided-attributes, such as corresponding to moods or usage modes such as “resting” “reading” “jogging” or “driving” moods/modes. The playlist may be dynamically adjusted based on user interaction with the device, such as when a user skips a song, queues a song, or dequeues a song.

Abstract: A video retrieval method is provided. The method includes dividing video sequences stored in a video database into a plurality of video frames, extracting by a predetermined feature extracting algorithm a plurality of selected fingerprints from the plurality of video frames representing features having characteristic information specific to the plurality of video frames, and storing the plurality of extracted selected fingerprints in a fingerprint database. The method also includes receiving a query video sequence submitted by a user, extracting by the predetermined feature extracting algorithm at least one query fingerprint representing at least one query frame from the received query video sequence, and calculating similarity between the query fingerprint and the selected fingerprints from the fingerprint database to search for a match for the query fingerprint.

Abstract: A facility for using a mobile device to search video content takes advantage of computing capacity on the mobile device to capture input through a camera and/or a microphone, extract an audio-video signature of the input in real time, and to perform progressive search. By extracting a joint audio-video signature from the input in real time as the input is received and sending the signature to the cloud to search similar video content through the layered audio-video indexing, the facility can provide progressive results of candidate videos for progressive signature captures.

Abstract: A query fingerprint of a set of frames of video content captured at a client device may be generated. Multiple patches of the set of frames of video content may be selected and a value calculated for each of the selected multiple patches. The value for each patch may be indicated as a single bit along with an additional 1-bit value to indicate whether the patch value is weak. A database of known reference fingerprints may be queried using the generated query fingerprint. Matches between the query fingerprint and the reference fingerprints may be identified. Weak bits may be given reduced weight in identifying the match of fingerprints. Based on the matches, an identifier for the video content may be returned to the client device. The client device may use the received identifier to access the supplemental content.

Abstract: Information as to a group of devices which are part of a monitoring system, can be accumulated in one or more databases. The databases can be addressed via a computer network, such as the Internet. Monitoring systems can access one or more of the databases seeking identification of those devices that correspond to a selected criterion. A database can provide serial numbers of devices that meet the selected criteria. The respective monitoring system can determine if any local devices have serial numbers that match the received serial numbers. A trouble indicator can be generated in response thereto.

The architecture includes an extraction component configured to extract useful entity information from a collection of entity information, the collection of entity information derived from local search data; a distributed processing component configured to distributively query a search engine using the useful entity information and receive search results from the search engine, the search results comprising resource references; and, a selection component configured to remove non-relevant resource references to obtain candidate resource references and select a top resource reference from the candidate resource references, using an unsupervised machine learning algorithm.

Abstract: A computerized system and method is presented for analyzing quotations made in a quoting document of text originally found in a source document. The quoting document and source document can be web pages publicly available on the World Wide Web. The present invention analyzes the quoting document for quoted text, searches the source document for that text, and stores the existence of the quotation in association with the source document. When displaying the source document, quoted text is highlighted. A link is provided between items of quoted text and a list of documents that have quoted that text. From this list the full text of a quoting document may be displayed.

Abstract: A method and system for determining a user attention to a multimedia data element (MMDE) displayed in a web-page over a user computing device. The method includes generating, based on at least one sensory signal captured by at least one sensor communicatively connected to the computing device, at least one signature; querying, using the generated at least one signature, a deep-content-classification (DCC) system for at least one concept structure matching the received at least one sensory signal, wherein each of the at least one concept structure includes metadata associated with a plurality of signature reduced clusters representing MMDEs; identifying the metadata of the matching at least one concept structure; and analyzing the identified metadata to determine an attention of a user to the MMDE.

Abstract: A Personal Memory Drive provides a system using memory and its database and kept in their personal possession. The database is segregated by firewalls to partition information into a public, a semi-private, a private section using firewalls. A PC accessed by the drive partitions the computer into segments thereby shadowing the drive segments. The drive allows private, local, and global databases to be searched and the results of the search snippets can be provided to the user. This search activity can be occurring during active conversations with others. The search analysis can also use sentence diagramming to partition the dialogue. The returned snippets can be filtered and processed by brain sensors coupled to the user. The device can aid the user where these search snippets can be used to enhance the conversation where some individuals of the party would not be aware of the aided help given to the user.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention allow a system to use data gathered from social networks and other systems to determine an ordered list of desired topics or skills to define a subject matter area and incorporate the order of the topics or skills into a search. To define this subject matter area, embodiments can consider not just the topics or skills that are listed, but those topics or skills that are similar based on a pre-computed topic graph. These considerations can be incorporated into a generated query, so that the query itself accounts for similarity of topics via the topic graph and the order of desired terms. The query generation process can include a claimed skills veracity model that provides differential weighting to claimed skills, based on the skill-sets of users who are deemed to be similar to the user being evaluated.

Abstract: The disclosure discloses a statistical method and apparatus for webpage access data. The method includes that: an initial dataset of user-accessed page behaviours is collected; first-time access data of a user is extracted from the initial dataset; the first-time access data is judged by using a pre-set judgement model to obtain a judgement result; when the judgement result is contrary to a pre-set result of the pre-set judgement model, dating-back matching is performed in the initial dataset by using the first-time access data to obtain associated access data; and the initial dataset is spliced and repaired based on the associated access data to obtain a repaired dataset. By means of the disclosure, the problem in the traditional art that the user identification accuracy is dissatisfactory due to the loss of Cookie information is solved.

In one embodiment, a first computing device in a first region of control can receive a data set from a second computing device in a second region of control via a communication network. The communication-powered searching system may then refine search results displayed to the user based on information exchanged between the user and the entity. The refinements may be made in real time or substantially in real time.

Abstract: The concepts relate to task completion and specifically to aiding a user to complete an unfinished task at a subsequent time and/or on another device. One example can identify that a user is working on a task on a computing device associated with the user. In an instance when the user stops using the computing device without completing the task, the example can predict a likelihood that the user will subsequently resume the task on a second computing device associated with the user. In an instance where the likelihood exceeds a threshold, the example can attempt to aid the user in completing the task on the second computing device.

Abstract: A light receiver of a communication apparatus receives light from an LED that emits light based on a light-emission pattern defined by an ID. An ID acquirer specifies the light-emission pattern from light received by the light receiver and acquires the ID. Abstract: A method is provided to generate a correct XML (eXtensible Markup Language) representation of source data from a relational database without knowing the format of source data. A XML parsing function is used to create the final XML data if the source data contains entity references. Where the source data does not contain entity reference, a XML publishing function is called to generate the final correct XML data.

Abstract: A stream computing application may permit one or more jobs to connect to a data stream of a different job. As more jobs connect to the data stream, the likelihood that two or more operators are performing redundant operations on a data stream may increase. A stream manager may monitor an operator graph to identify two operators performing a redundant operation. If the stream manager determines that there are redundant operators in the operator graph, the stream manager may modify the operator graph to remove the redundant operators.
