Abstract: The present invention includes three off-set hinges adapted to utilize the weight of the door to cause the door to self position and allow manual operation of the door. A center hinge includes a top leaf, a center pin, and a bottom leaf. The center pin includes an upper pin-portion 62 adapted to slideably insert into a inverted slot on a top socket of the top leaf and an oppositely disposed lower pin-portion adapted to slideabley insert into an upright cylindrical slot of the bottom leaf. A gear is disposed intermediate to the upper pin-portion and lower pin-portion. The gear is fixed or otherwise coupled to the pin whereby rotation of the gear results in corresponding rotation of the pin including both the top portion and bottom portion. The lower pin-portion further includes a beveled lower (distal) end: This bevel matches a corresponding bevel in the bottom leaf.

Abstract: When a main switch (82) is in an on-state, a controller (80) allows an electric motor (41) to drive a sliding door to open and close an opening, and when the main switch (82) is in an off-state and a half latch switch (66) is in an on-state, the controller (80) performs a braking control to allow the electric motor (41) to generate a braking force. When the main switch (82) is in the on-state, the sliding door can be opened and closed automatically. When the main switch (82) is in the off-state and the sliding door is closed manually, the improperly-closed state detecting switch is switched on before a full-latch state, the controller performs a braking control of the driving source. In this manner, damage to components caused by the inertial force of the driving source which results from an abrupt stop of the opening and closing unit can be certainly prevented without enhancing the rigidity of a casing, etc.

A molten metal material is located between the first tubing and the second tubing at the predetermined regions. The molten metal material is then solidified to secure the second tubing to the first tubing.

Abstract: A downhole tool and method. The downhole tool includes a first sensing member, and a second sensing member. The first and second sensing members have a first communication status when the downhole tool is in a first configuration. The first and second sensing members have a second communication status that is different from the first communication status when the downhole tool is in a second configuration. The downhole tool is prevented from actuating prior to the first and second sensing members having the second communication status, and the downhole tool is permitted to actuate after the first and second members have the second communication status.

Abstract: A system can include an annular restrictor connected in a tubular string. The annular restrictor restricts flow through an annulus formed between the tubular string and a wellbore. Restriction to the flow through the annulus biases the tubular string into the wellbore, and fluid in the wellbore displaces into the tubular string and/or a formation penetrated by the wellbore. A method can include connecting an annular restrictor in a tubular string, and flowing a fluid through an annulus formed between the tubular string and a wellbore, thereby causing a differential pressure across the annular restrictor, the differential pressure biasing the tubular string into the wellbore. Another method can include connecting an annular restrictor in a tubular string, flowing a fluid through an annulus, thereby biasing the tubular string into a wellbore, and then causing the annular restrictor to no longer restrict flow through the annulus.

Abstract: A method of establishing fluid communication between wellbores can include forming a flow path from one wellbore to another wellbore, a flow area of the flow path increasing in a direction from the first wellbore toward the second wellbore. An explosive assembly for use in a well can include an explosive device having multiple explosive charges, the explosive charges producing longitudinal shock waves that collide with each other and result in a laterally directed shock wave, and a shield that focuses the laterally directed shock wave into a predetermined angular range of less than 360 degrees. A method of establishing fluid communication between wellbores can include forming a flow path from one wellbore to another wellbore, the flow path intersecting an uncased portion of the second wellbore.

Abstract: An insert slot for a slip segment of a rotary slip assembly is described. The insert slot includes a generally rectangular recess formed by milling a single piece of metal which is to be the slip segment, the milled recess thereby forming the insert slot, and a circular hole formed at each of two lower corner locations of the milled recess. The circular corner holes allow a dovetail cutter access into and removal from the recess to make a dovetail cut that creates an angled grove along lengthwise sides of the insert slot, the insert slot having a flat bottom adapted to support a bottom of a tool or grip insert, the insert slot formed in a single piece of metal with no other materials attached thereto, so as to permit an accurate load rating to be determined for the slip assembly.
