Abstract: A method of producing a precast concrete bridge and headwall assembly, includes the steps of casting a reinforced concrete bridge unit having a top wall connecting opposite side walls, releasably attaching a series of counterfort forms to the top wall of the bridge unit at laterally spaced intervals between the side walls, and positioning the bridge unit with a first side supported by a horizontal casting surface, wherein the top wall is positioned adjacent a casting framework and a bottom edge of the counterfort forms is located adjacent the casting framework. The method further includes precasting a concrete headwall unit onto the casting surface, precasting a series of counterfort members into the counterfort forms before the headwall has completely hardened, removing the series of counterfort forms from the top wall of the bridge unit; and removing the headwall and counterfort members as a unit from the bridge unit.

The foundation having a central vertical pedestal, a substantially horizontal continuous bottom support slab, a plurality of radial reinforcing ribs extending radially outward from the pedestal. The pedestal, ribs and slab forming a continuous monolithic structure. The foundation having a three-dimensional network of post-tensioning elements that keep the structural elements under heavy multi-axial post compression with a specific eccentricity intended to reduce stress amplitudes and deflections and allows the foundation to have a desirable combination of high stiffness and superior fatigue resistance. The foundation design reduces the weight and volume of materials used, reduces cost, and improves heat dissipation conditions during construction by having a small ratio of concrete mass to surface area thus eliminating the risk of thermal cracking due to heat of hydration.

Abstract: Methods, systems and apparatus for variable-depth microtrenching (e.g., for burying fiber optic cables, electrical conductors, and conduits beneath a ground surface of a road or other byway). An automated blade adjustment mechanism coupled to a cutting blade adjusts a depth of the microtrench by raising or lowering the cutting blade during the microtrenching operation. The ability to raise or lower the cutting blade in an automated fashion during the microtrenching operation facilitates effective microtrenching through elevated or depressed obstacles (e.g., speed bumps, curbs, water drainage channels) that may be present in a byway for vehicles or pedestrians. In particular, in one example, substantially uninterrupted formation of a microtrench through an elevated or depressed obstacle may be achieved in a single swath without stopping the microtrenching operation and while maintaining a substantially uniform, or minimum prescribed, microtrench depth.

Abstract: A hydraulic drive system for a track device of crawler type has right and left hydraulic track motors. The hydraulic drive system is capable of correcting for skew occurring in the straight line traveling of the track device. A traveling test is conducted upon shipment from a factory. If skew is noted during the test, a plug disposed on the side of a valve opening-side pressure receiving portion of a pressure compensating valve for the track which is lower in speed is removed and, replaced with an adjusting mechanism-mounted plug having an adjusting pin. The pin is operated so as to strengthen a biasing force of a target compensating differential pressure adjusting spring. An opening in the pressure compensating valve is thereby corrected in an opening direction and a flow rate to one of the left and right track motors is thereby adjusted to be equal to the other motor.

The member comprises a rear surface, a front face, a top surface extending therebetween, and a groove in the front face of the member. The groove has first and second side walls extending from first and second side edges at the front face and leading to a base recessed therefrom. The member is supported by screws received in the groove in a mounted position wherein the top surface of the member is spaced above the existing surface so that a thickness of a covering material, which disposed on the existing surface for covering same, is located between the top surface and the existing surface. Also, a lighting element is inserted in the groove for illuminating an area adjacent the edge of the existing surface.

Abstract: A tile leveller and spacer system that allows rapid and reliable spacing and levelling of tools is described. The tile spacer comprises a base for locating the spacer under the tiles, and a stem that includes an alignment cross which is used to correctly space the tiles. The stem tile spacer is placed over the stem and engages with teeth on the stem. The tile leveller is pushed down over the stem to level the tiles between the base and the bottom of the tile leveller. The stem further comprises a frangible portion located between the base and the tile alignment portion, and when the stem is pulled with sufficient force, the frangible portion breaks to allow removal of the stem. A hand tool may be used to assist in this process. The hand tool can have an adjustable stop which can be set to a first setting to level the tiles, and a second setting to cause the frangible portion to break, allowing removal of the stem and leveller.

Abstract: A system for dispensing texture material in a desired spray pattern that substantially matches an existing texture pattern on a target surface has a container assembly, an actuator assembly, and a concentrate comprising a solvent/carrier comprising water, wall texture material comprising at least one filler and a resin/binder, a first anti-corrosion material, where the first anti-corrosion material is a phosphate ester, and a second anti-corrosion material, where the second anti-corrosion material is sodium nitrite. At least one of the first and second anti-corrosion materials forms a film on the inner surface of the container assembly while the concentrate is stored within the container assembly. The film inhibits corrosion of the corrodible material forming at least part of the inner surface of the container assembly. The first and second anti-corrosion materials together comprise 0.125-7.00% by weight of the concentrate.

Abstract: An adjustable storey pole bracket provides a masonry guide tool that affixes to, aligns, and enables quick measurements of masonry units that make up corners and walls on a masonry structure. The bracket is length adjustable to fixedly connect to different sized structures. The bracket is portable and easily detachable. The bracket is supportive of a guidance rod, such as a storey pole, and the plumb lines used for measuring. Multiple brackets can work together at adjacent corners, or in a vertical stack on the same corner. A central ring holds the guidance rod along the length of the corner. A pair of arms extend perpendicularly from the ring along the walls. A fastening block slidably extends and retracts to adjust the length of the arms. A right angularly disposed flange at the terminus of the arms fasten to an adjacent corner or gaps inside the wall.

Abstract: The present invention relates generally to wall repair compounds such as joint compounds, spackling compounds, and the like used to repair imperfections in walls or fill joints between adjacent wallboard panels. Particularly, the present invention relates to such a wall repair compound that comprises a dust-reduction additive that reduces the quantity of airborne dust generated when the hardened compound is sanded. The dust-reduction additive also synergistically imparts water resistance and adhesion to the wall repair compounds to which it is added. More specifically, in one embodiment, the dust-reduction additive is an emulsion comprising colloidally-protected, wax-based microstructures comprising paraffin that is chemically encapsulated by polyvinyl alcohol.

Abstract: A tool is used for assembling at least a portion of a stay-in-place form-work for casting a structure from concrete, the form-work comprising first and second elongate panels having first and second edge components and connectable in an edge-to-edge relationship wherein the first and second edge components engage one another. The tool comprises: a first arm having a first handle, the first arm terminating at a first tool head; and a second arm having a second handle, the second arm terminating at a second tool head and pivotally attached to the first arm by a pivot joint. The first tool head comprises a first protrusion for engaging the first edge component. The second tool head comprises a second protrusion for engaging the second edge component; the first and second handles are moveable toward one another in a manner which forces the first and second tool heads toward one another thereby forcing the first and second edge components into a locked configuration.
