  • Patent number: 9535464
Abstract: An information handling system housing is provided with a base portion, a head portion and a chin portion all coupled via a hinge such that the chin portion are separately articulable. By providing the hinge so that the chin portion can articulate separately from the rest of the head portion, the chin portion can articulate towards the rear of the system. This articulation reduces the table height of the hinge pivot point, and therefore reduces the slope of the base and keyboard assembly.

  • Patent number: 9535473
Abstract: An age compensation method and apparatus for an integrated circuit (IC). An IC may be configured to operate at an initial operating voltage at the beginning of its operational life. Various circuits may be used to detect aging of the IC, and indications of aging may be stored to determine the aging of the IC. The information indicative of the determined aging of the IC may be compared to an aging threshold. If the information indicates that the aging is greater than or equal to the determined aging threshold, the operating voltage of the IC may be increased. This process may be repeated over the life of the IC, increasing the operating voltage as the IC ages. Raising the operating voltage in response to aging may compensate for various age related degradation mechanisms that can occur over the operational life of the IC.

Abstract: An electronic device is disclosed. The electronic device includes a mechanical input configured to move in a first direction in response to an input at the mechanical input. A mechanical input sensor is coupled to the mechanical input and configured to sense the input at the mechanical input based on the movement of the mechanical input in the first direction. A mechanical input actuator is coupled to the mechanical input and configured to displace the mechanical input in a second direction, different from the first direction. In some examples, the second direction is orthogonal to the first direction. In some examples, the mechanical input comprises a rotary input configured to rotate in the first direction in response to the input. In some examples, the mechanical input actuator is configured to displace the mechanical input in the second direction while the mechanical input is moving in the first direction.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention describe a system to efficiently execute gesture recognition algorithms. Embodiments of the invention describe a power efficient staged gesture recognition pipeline including multimodal interaction detection, context based optimized recognition, and context based optimized training and continuous learning. Embodiments of the invention further describe a system to accommodate many types of algorithms depending on the type of gesture that is needed in any particular situation. Examples of recognition algorithms include but are not limited to, HMM for complex dynamic gestures (e.g. write a number in the air), Decision Trees (DT) for static poses, peak detection for coarse shake/whack gestures or inertial methods (INS) for pitch/roll detection.

Abstract: In a method for creating a virtual keyboard, multiple intersections formed as a honeycomb structure are set on a plane. A selected type of virtual keyboard is acquired according to a command input by a user. A number of keys according to the selected type of virtual keyboard are calculated to acquire intersections corresponding to the number of the keys from the plane. The keys are arranged to form a keyboard plane of the virtual keyboard. A standard difference of step lengths from a center key of the keyboard plane to the other keys is calculated. The virtual keyboard is displayed on a screen of a display device, in event the keyboard plane is determined available according to the calculated standard difference. Then the user can operate the virtual keyboard with a remote control device to input characters.
