Abstract: A knitted spacer fabric has a tightly knitted bottom layer, a more loosely knitted upper layer and linking fibres extending across the space between the lower and upper faces. Settable material, e.g. cement, is introduced into the space between the upper and lower faces and can be caused to set by the addition of a liquid, e.g. water. Until set, the fabric is flexible and can be shaped but after the material in space has set, the fabric is rigid and can be used as a structural element in a wide range of situations. The bottom layer has an extension that extends beyond the upper face and is connected to the upper face by elastic connecting fibres that draw the extension towards the other face, thereby at least partly closing the space at the edge of the cloth and preventing the settable material from spilling out.

Abstract: A rope terminal fixing method is provided, which may be used easily at a construction site, causes less shearing load, and may reliably prevent the falling-off of the rope. The rope terminal fixing method comprises the following steps. A tubular terminal metal fitting which comprises a proximal opening, a distal opening, and a through hole communicating the proximal and distal openings is prepared. A terminal of a rope is inserted through the proximal opening into the through hole, a portion of the terminal of the rope extended from the distal opening is loosened, and a diameter-enlarging member is fixed to a core wire of the rope. Then, the terminal of the rope is brought back into the through hole. A fixed width portion extending in an axial direction of the terminal metal fitting is pressed from the outside in a circumferential direction by swaging, such that a protrusion constraining the rope so as to reduce its diameter is formed in the through hole.

A safety valve is isolated from a cavity of a fender bladder by a receiving chamber, thus allowing the safety valve to be able to be detached and attached while the pneumatic fender is in use. A confirmation test of a valve opening pressure of the safety valve is performed by opening a receiving chamber open/close valve and raising an internal pressure of a cavity of the receiving chamber to a pressure threshold (Pm) via a receiving chamber communication passage. Upon an internal pressure (P) of the cavity being less than the pressure threshold (Pm) and greater than a standard pressure (Pc), the open/close valve opens the through hole, thus allowing the safety valve to function.

The aqueduct is made of an elastic material and has a neck that has a wall thickness smaller than a wall thickness of the rest of the aqueduct. The neck of the aqueduct deforms at different levels according to different levels of water pressure at the spout of the faucet, so as to change a diameter of the aqueduct and in a flow of the faucet, thereby contributing to flow control and water conservation.

Abstract: A plunger includes a flexible bell, an elongated handle, and a shroud. The flexible bell has a hollow defining a volume and an open bottom end positionable in the bowl, facing a drain. The handle is coupled to the end of the bell opposite the open end. The bell can have at least two configurations: an expanded, relaxed configuration and a compressed configuration achieved by pushing the handle towards the bell. The shroud covers the bell, has its bottom sealed to the perimeter of the open bottom of the bell, and has an open top through which the handle may move. An interior profile of the shroud defined by the shroud's inner surface matches and maintains a substantially constant distance to the bell while in its relaxed configuration.

The first storm drain inlet screen possesses a front screen, a plurality of front screen perforations, and a plurality of particulate matter capture bars. In such embodiments, the particulate matter capture bars: are fixedly attached to the front screen, traverse at least ¼ of the front screen perforations, reduce, by less than 5%, an amount by which the front screen perforations, in aggregate, render open a total frontward surface area of the front screen, and are operative to increase by at least 50% an amount of particulate matter captured outside of a storm drain into which the first storm drain inlet screen is installed, as compared to a second storm drain inlet screen that differs from the first inlet screen by entirely lacking particulate matter capture bars.

Abstract: A polyhedral building module may be connected along its sides to manufacture free form buildings or structures. A multiplicity of individual polyhedral building modules may be manufactured remotely and shipped to a building site where they can be attached to one another and the building constructed. Ideally, the polyhedral building modules may be attached to each other using hand tools. Upright members or columns provide support for a roof structure. The building module may be raised off of the ground by brace members attached to the underside of the building module's floor structure.

Abstract: Disclosed is an air vent for mounting directly to an exterior wall of a structure to allow air flow from an interior space of the structure to the ambient environment. The air vent comprises a body comprising an opening and a siding portion disposed below the opening. The air vent further comprises a first siding piece secured to the siding portion that is substantially similar to the siding of the exterior wall. The air vent further comprises a damper moveably engaged with the body between a closed position where the damper blocks air flow thru the opening and an open position where the damper allows air flow thru the opening. The air vent further comprises a second siding piece secured to the damper that is substantially similar to and overlaps the first siding piece in the closed position. Unlike conventional devices, the air vent of the present invention blends into the siding on the exterior wall increasing the aesthetic appearance of the siding.
