Publication number: 20170023656Abstract: Magnetic resonance imaging methods and apparatuses that can enhance and speed up acquisition of functional magnetic resonance images are provided. An imaging system can generate a functional image from a magnetic resonance image collecting a magnetic resonance signal from a patient who does one or more tasks as directed. A plurality of functional images along a time series can be generated by separating a plurality of magnetic resonance images generated along the time series during a collecting period into image groups, each corresponding to a predetermined temporal phase. The resting period and a task-execution period can be repeated a plurality of times along the time series during the collection period. A statistical process can then be performed on each of the image groups, and the functional images can be displayed by a display unit.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 22, 2015Publication date: January 26, 2017Inventor: Byron Bernal

Publication number: 20170023662Abstract: In a frequency-modulated continuous-wave radar processing system and method, a linear frequency ramp signal is defined. The linear ramp signal is divided into a plurality of time sections. The sections of the linear ramp signal are rearranged in time such that the plurality of sections define a transmit control signal different than the linear ramp signal. A radar transmission signal is generated having a frequency varying with time according to the transmit control signal, and the radar transmission signal is transmitted into the region of interest. An intermediate frequency (IF) signal is generated using the radar transmission signal and radar receive signals received from the region of interest, a frequency of the IF signal being a difference between the frequency of the radar transmission signal and a frequency of the radar receive signals. The IF signal is low-pass filtered. Radar processing is performed on the low-pass-filtered IF signal.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 24, 2015Publication date: January 26, 2017Inventor: Xueru Ding

Publication number: 20170023696Abstract: The present specification describes a compact, hand-held probe or device that uses the principle of X-ray backscatter to provide immediate feedback to an operator about the presence of scattering and absorbing materials, items or objects behind concealing barriers irradiated by ionizing radiation, such as X-rays. Feedback is provided in the form of a changing audible tone whereby the pitch or frequency of the tone varies depending on the type of scattering material, item or object. Additionally or alternatively, the operator obtains a visual scan image on a screen by scanning the beam around a suspect area or anomaly.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 18, 2016Publication date: January 26, 2017Inventor: Edward James Morton

Publication number: 20170023697Abstract: Disclosed is a method and device for estimating weight of an object to be inspected in an inspection system. An effective atomic number and a high-energy gray value of the dual-energy corresponding to each pixel of the object to be inspected are obtained by a dual-energy radiation scanning. A mass-thickness value for a corresponding pixel is obtained from a pre-created mass-thickness attenuation curve by utilizing the effective atomic numbers and the high-energy gray value of the dual-energy for respective pixels. Weight information for at least a part of the object to be inspected is calculated by multiplying the mass-thickness value by the area of the pixel. Such a method may accurately calculate the weight of the object to be inspected and save the cost for a conventional weighing hardware.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 22, 2016Publication date: January 26, 2017Inventors: Zhiqiang CHEN, Yuanjing LI, Li ZHANG, Ziran ZHAO, Yaohong LIU, Juan ZHENG, Jianping GU, Chunguang ZONG

Publication number: 20170023698Abstract: The present specification discloses a high speed scanning system for scanning cargo carried by rail. The system uses of a two-dimensional X-ray sensor array with, in one embodiment, a cone-beam X-ray geometry. The pulse rate of X-ray source is modulated based on the speed of the moving cargo to allow a distance traveled by the cargo between X-ray pulses to be equal to the width of the detector, for a single energy source, and to half the width of the detector for a dual energy source. This ensures precise timing between the X-ray exposure and the speed of the passing object, and thus accurate scanning of cargo even at high speeds.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 21, 2016Publication date: January 26, 2017Inventor: Edward James Morton

Publication number: 20170023700Abstract: Disclosed is a method of modelling a subsurface volume. History data for one or more parameters over a first period of time is obtained. The first period of time comprises a plurality of schedule periods, each schedule period having associated with it a sampled value of the considered parameter at the corresponding time. A merge error value is attributed to plural pairs of consecutive schedule periods, the merge error value representing a magnitude of the error in a merged value of each parameter over the duration corresponding to a pair of schedule periods being considered, relative to the sampled values for said pair of schedule periods being considered. The pair of schedule periods which have the smallest error value attributed thereto is merged, and the merged schedule period has attributed to it, the corresponding merged value of the corresponding parameter. The error value calculation and merger steps are repeated so as to reduce the total number of schedule periods.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 20, 2014Publication date: January 26, 2017Applicant: Total S.A.Inventor: Pierre BERGEY

Publication number: 20170023701Abstract: The present invention relates to the determination of damage to a geological model (100) comprising a plurality of nodes (200) and a plurality of links (300) each linking two nodes from the plurality of nodes. For each link from the plurality of links, the determination of damage comprises determining a force applied to said link. If the force is greater than a force threshold value, for each node of the two nodes from the plurality of nodes linked together by said link, the determination of damage comprises creating a contact sphere (400) associated with said node, and eliminating the link. Finally, the determination of damage comprises determining a plurality of contacts between spheres comprising at least one contact between spheres, each contact between spheres associating two contact spheres from the plurality of contact spheres.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 25, 2014Publication date: January 26, 2017Inventors: Bernard CORRE, Alexandre LAPENE, Rafik AFFES
