Abstract: The invention aims to provide a pearl-like capsule that can encapsulate a large amount of fatty substances and a method of manufacturing the same, wherein the pearl-like capsule is less deformable and/or less shrinkable even under freeze-thaw and thus is convenient for transportation and preservation. Abstract: The present invention relates to a composition in the form of an oil-in-water emulsion, preferably a mayonnaise-type emulsion, containing ground white or yellow mustard seed. This way the amount of oil in the emulsion can be reduced, while keeping the structure of full-fat mayo, without using large amounts of thickeners or water-structurants. Moreover the invention relates to the use of ground white or yellow mustard seed as an ingredient of the emulsion to reduce the concentration of oil in the emulsion.

Abstract: The present invention provides novel compositions and methods for producing protein-polysaccharide conjugates in aqueous solutions. Also provided are methods for limiting the Maillard reaction to the very initial stage, the formation of the Schiff base. Provided are methods to obtain a simple product of Schiff base with white color, and compositions obtained using the methods of the present invention.

Abstract: The present invention has objects to provide a glucan useful as water-soluble dietary fiber, its preparation and uses. The present invention solves the above objects by providing a branched ?-glucan, which is constructed by glucose molecules and characterized by methylation analysis as follows: (1) Ratio of 2,3,6-trimethyl-1,4,5-triacetyl-glucitol to 2,3,4-trimethyl-1,5,6-triacetyl-glucitol is in the range of 1:0.6 to 1:4; (2) Total content of 2,3,6-trimethyl-1,4,5-triacetyl-glucitol and 2,3,4-trimethyl-1,5,6-triacetyl-glucitol is 60% or higher in the partially methylated glucitol acetates; (3) Content of 2,4,6-trimethyl-1,3,5-triacetyl-glucitol is 0.5% or higher but less than 10% in the partially methylated glucitol acetates; and (4) Content of 2,4-dimethyl-1,3,5,6-tetraacetyl-glucitol is 0.5% or higher in the partially methylated glucitol acetates; a novel ?-glucosyltransferase which forms the branched ?-glucan, processes for producing them, and their uses.

Abstract: A system, device, and method for freaking a cigar, such as a Black & Mild, is provided. The system provides a cigar and an inner binder removal tool. The inner binder removal tool effectuates the removal of the inner binder layer which is commonly found in Black & Mild cigars which some users believe poses health risks. Furthermore, the method associated with the present disclosure provides an improved manner in which to freak a Black & Mild over conventionally known manners which require the user to pinch the inner binder layer. Sometimes the inner binder layer is known as cancer paper in urban areas within the United States.

Abstract: A smoking article provides one or more sheets of material that can be rolled and packaged, at least one sheet including cellulose. In one embodiment, cellulose and tobacco sheet material are separately rolled layers that can optionally be wrapped around a form casing (or pre-rolled inside) and then packaged. In another embodiment, the sheet is a laminated sheet of tobacco and cellulose layers that can be optionally wrapped around (or pre-rolled inside) a form casing. These sheets can be filled with custom tobacco to make one or more new cigars for an end user. In another embodiment, a complete cigar filled with tobacco material can be disassembled by an end user to produce tobacco and cellulose sheets, enabling the end user to form two new cigars using his or her own custom tobacco.

The mouthpiece includes a segment comprising a filtration material comprising polylactic acid, and an additive for reducing phenols. The mouthpiece further comprises one or more wrappers circumscribing the segment, the one or more wrappers have a combined basis weight of at least about 50 grams per square metre (gm-2).

The pipe snuffer with removable head includes a base and a head, the base having a substantially cylindrical housing with a sidewall, a closed bottom, and an open upper end. The head is a substantially cylindrical element. A fastener is disposed on the base to removably secure it to the head. In one embodiment of the pipe snuffer removable head, the fastener is a female threading on the open upper end of the base and a male threading on the head. The base is made from fire resistant material and is configured to fit within the bowl of a pipe to a close tolerance. When the pipe snuffer with removable head is placed within a bowl of a lit pipe, the flame is extinguished, thus preserving the tobacco for future use.

The control circuit controls an operation of the first switch and an operation of the heating wire switch. When the heating wire switch is turned on, the power output stage operates; when the heating wire switch is turned off, the power output stage stops operating, so as to control the amount of smoke.

Abstract: A power control circuit and a power control method for an electronic cigarette are provided. The power control method includes the following steps: detecting a sensing temperature of a heating wire; when the sensing temperature is lower than a preset temperature, providing a first switch signal according to a ramp signal and an input signal, and adjusting an operation current of the electronic cigarette according to the first switch signal; and when the sensing temperature is higher than the preset temperature, providing a second switch signal, and adjusting the operation current of the electronic cigarette according to the second switch signal, wherein an on-time of the second switch signal is less than an on-time of the first switch signal. The invention controls the temperature of the electronic cigarette by adjusting the on-time so as to avoid overheating.

The oil reservoir is arranged at one end of the electronic cigarette body which is on an opposite side of the smoking end, and the atomization assembly is arranged in the oil reservoir, thus length of a whole electronic cigarette is shortened, and the electronic cigarette is portable. The oil reservoir is defined far away from the smoking end, so that a bad experience of sucking the tobacco tar by users can be effectively avoided. When smoking, the battery assembly close to the smoking end is held, and the oil reservoir is usually not supported by an external force, so that the oil reservoir outputs a uniform amount of the tobacco tar to the atomization assembly, and the stability of produced smoke is effectively ensured.

The device may be wearable by a user and include one or more components, such as wound sealant and multiple inflatable balloons/bladders. The device may be integrated into a garment, e.g., a vest, jacket, trousers, or full body suit. Once triggered (automatically or manually), the device may be used to deliver wound sealant to a wound site and/or pressure to the wound site by selective inflation of one or more balloons over exsanguinating blood vessels that may be damaged, thereby stopping or minimizing the bleeding. Alternatively, or in addition, the device may be used to stabilize a wounded wearer for, e.g., transportation purposes, or to provide buoyancy. Devices of the invention may also be used as a blood pressure monitor, as a massaging device, and as a breast pump.

The system and apparatus include a jewelry-like securing mechanism configured to resemble a choker-style or chain-style necklace. The fabric member may be configured with a pocket along its top edge for inserting the securing mechanism to removably attach the fabric member. The garment is conformable over a range of sizes, and may be shaped to fit numerous sizes and shapes of forming molds. The ePTFE membrane may shrink to fit, or, alternatively, be stretched to fit, a mold having a desired size to form a garment. Such a conformable ePTFE membrane may allow for forming multiple sizes of garments with various sizes and shapes of molds. In embodiments where the ePTFE membrane is seamless and continuous, the garment eliminates the need for a waterproof seam tape, which is conventionally used to make garments waterproof.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a device that stabilizes and/or protects the head and spine from injuries. An immobilization device includes one or more pillars with multiple segments that protect the head and spine of a user. The pillars typically run along the part of the head and spine and pelvis that the device protects. A cable or wire runs through these segments in the pillars. By design, when the pillars of the invented system are not activated and the system is in normal use, the pillars are designed to be as flexible as possible and allow full physiologic motion of the protected body part. Activation of the system confers rigidity to the system and prevents or lessens harmful, non-physiologic motion of the body part intended to be protected. The present invention also encompasses a immobilization device with cables used to guide the deployment of rigid tubes to stabilize and protect the head of the user.
