  • Patent number: 9593434
Abstract: In a rotating disk reactor (1) for growing epitaxial layers on substrate (3), gas directed toward the substrates at different radial distances from the axis of rotation of the disk has substantially the same velocity. The gas directed toward portions of the disk remote from the axis (10a) may include a higher concentration of a reactant gas (4) than the gas directed toward portions of the disk close to the axis (10d), so that portions of the substrate surfaces at different distances from the axis (14) receive substantially the same amount of reactant gas (4) per unit area. A desirable flow pattern is achieved within the reactor while permitting uniform deposition and growth of epitaxial layers on the substrate.

Abstract: A pipe system has an elbow 70 with a snake-passing opening 72 (FIG. 3) that is normally closed by a plug 88, with the walls of the snake opening and plug constructed to avoid harmful wear during use of the snake. The elbow forms a nipple 82 that surrounds the snake opening. The nipple has threads (102, FIG. 4) on its outside so snake-caused wear does not initially occur in the threads. The snake opening has an axis 108, and the plug middle forms a cup 112 that extends axially inward to block a majority of the volume within the inner end of the nipple.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus facilitate the construction of a building using prefabricated building units, each having a horizontal upper exterior surface and a plurality of vertical wall surfaces, wherein at least some of the prefabricated building units have at least one hollow column formwork structure. The prefabricated building units are lowered onto a pre-existing base at a construction site. A first story of the building is created by arranging a plurality of the prefabricated building units adjacent to each other on the base. Structural bearing material is applied to fill the hollow column formwork structures to create structural columns connected to the structural deck. Structural bearing material is applied to the horizontal upper exterior surfaces of the adjacent prefabricated building units to create a single structural deck over the prefabricated building units.
