Abstract: Infrastructure is remotely inspected using a sensor pod such as an unmanned ground vehicle and sensors adapted to inspect a surface of the infrastructure and an unmanned aircraft adapted to interoperate with the sensor pod. The sensor pod drives along the surface of the infrastructure being inspected. A tether to the unmanned aircraft deploys and retrieves the sensor pod on the surface of the infrastructure. Electronic sensors of the sensor pod are deployable in a crevice of the surface of the infrastructure obstructed from view by the unmanned aircraft. The unmanned aircraft can comprise a radio repeater adapted to relay ground commands to the sensor pod.

Abstract: Provided is an improved reclining mechanism for an aircraft passenger seat. An aircraft passenger seat (100) is provided with a seat bottom frame (152) which constitutes a seat surface, and a seat back frame (162) which constitutes a back rest, wherein cam followers (240, 242) provided on both sides of the seat back frame (162) slide within cam grooves (132) on spreaders (130) supporting both sides of a seat mechanism. When an actuator (200) expands and pivots a link arm (230) in the direction of an arrow R1 to cause the seat back frame (162) to start reclining, a link plate (270) extends in the direction of an arrow F1, and pivots a head rest frame (172) in the ? direction. This operation prevents the line of sight of the passenger from being deviated from a video device provided on a back of a front seat.

Abstract: An aircraft includes an engine mounted to a wing by a first support, such as a strut, configured to secure the engine to the wing in a position above the wing. A second support, secured to a fuselage portion of the aircraft, is defined by a bridge structure configured to separately and independently secure the engine to the fuselage. The engine is thus secured by the first support directly to the aircraft wing, and via the second support, in concert with the first, to a portion of an aircraft fuselage spaced laterally of the engine-to-wing attachment. In one embodiment the bridge structure, which extends between the engine and fuselage, may be bowed upwardly so as to define a convex curvature when viewed along the longitudinal axis of the aircraft. Such a curvature may, inter alia, optimize aerodynamic spacing of the bridge from the wing to minimize undesirable shock waves.

Abstract: A process method utilizing customized, specifically-shaped pieces of reticulated polyurethane foam (RPF) to fill an aircraft fuel tank or tank compartment to provide ignition mitigation and prevent explosion in the tank. The process involves inserting the shaped pieces of RPF through existing access ports into a fuel tank in order to fill the tank, excepting minimal planned void spaces. This process effects ignition mitigation by acting as an ignition blocker, mechanically interfering with the compression wave that precedes the flame front in an explosion, and changing the vaporous mixture above the fuel level (ullage) in the tank. The foam pieces are assembled and fitted together throughout the tank in a pattern that replicates the shape of the tank. After the foam insertion is complete, the fuel tank is filled with purging fluid, drained through a filter until no debris is found, and the new maximum fuel quantity is recalibrated.

Abstract: An improved method for storing and transporting arch-shaped stormwater leaching chambers includes positioning a group of nested chambers in an inverted “arch down” configuration upon a pallet to lower the center of gravity and stabilize the load, and using a pair of spaced cradle arms secured to the pallet to cooperatively position and support the palletized chambers against sideways rolling. Tie-down straps are then drawn through the natural saddle created by the inverted chambers and secured to the pallet, thereby reducing the required length and natural stretch of the straps over conventional methods. A lower center of gravity is therefore achieved, and load stability of the chambers is maximized during storage and transportation through more centralized weight distribution and an improved tethering system, thus reducing potential for injury and damage to the chambers during handling.

Abstract: The invention relates to an edge fitting (1) for protecting and supporting an outer edge of a cargo casing. The edge fitting (1) has a body comprising a base plate (3) with a first surface (4) facing said cargo casing in a mounted state of the edge fitting (1) and an opposite second surface facing away from the cargo casing in said mounted state. The body further comprises a border profile (6) extending perpendicularly or at least substantially perpendicularly to the base plate (3) and configured to extend along at least a part of said outer edge in said mounted state. A securing member (7) is arranged at said second surface projecting therefrom and configured to removably secure said body to a pallet (8) supporting said cargo casing or a lid resting on it by friction to an inner surface of an opening (10) of said pallet (8) or lid after introduced therein.

Abstract: A storage and transport container, in an unassembled state, is composed of a single-piece container blank having a bottom, foldable side and end walls and four corner flaps foldable inwardly at the side walls or the end walls. Respective turnover rims are integrally formed on the side walls and the end walls so that when the turnover rims are folded over, a stacking profile having a hook rim can be attached over the same, Four corner pieces are provided, wherein each corner piece has a base body having an upper stacking rim. Two insertion profiles are integrally formed on the base body, each having an angled profile section at the front end. The angled profile section positively fits in a respective profile recess of the side walls and the end walls. The stacking profiles extend over the insertion profiles flush against the stacking rim.

Abstract: [Problem] To provide containers stronger than conventional containers with respect to a lateral load when stacked. [Solution] The containers according to the present invention are configured so that a corner engaging projection and a corner engaging recess are engaged at the four corners on the bottom face and the top face of a top and a bottom container when stacked, thereby allowing such containers to hold up against the lateral load received when stacked by dispersing the lateral load more widely than conventional containers. Thus, the present invention achieves a higher strength with respect to the lateral load when stacked than conventional containers and prevents incidents where a first sidewall and second sidewall would be separated from each other due to the first sidewall or second sidewall being pushed and bent outwards.
