Publication number: 20170103718Abstract: A device is disclosed that is capable of independently modulating the transparency and emissive color of individual pixels that comprise an electronic display. Modulating the transparency of a transmissive layer allows a darkened or semi-darkened foreground field to be provided on the display. Modulating the color of an emissive layer further makes controllable the brightness and color of the foreground field. When these parameters are controlled, the display can generate partially transparent or opaque graphical elements that appear over the scene behind the display. In some embodiments separate emissive layers are provided on the front and back side of a central transmissive layer, thereby allowing different graphical information to be provided on the front and back side of the display. In other embodiments multiple transmissive and emissive layers can be stacked together, thereby allowing three-dimensional imagery to be generated without the need for viewers to use specialized viewing glasses.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 20, 2016Publication date: April 13, 2017Applicant: Adobe Systems IncorporatedInventor: Gavin S.P. The method includes placing a call to the user device, receiving from the user a voice response to a prompt associated with an implied security question for the user, comparing the voice response of the user with a selected voice biometrics record, converting the voice response into a speech-to-text phrase, and comparing the speech-to-text phrase against a stored secret text phrase to verify that the speech-to-text phrase matches an answer to the silent security question. A method for signing a transaction, including collecting a plurality of voice samples from a user during a transaction and concatenating the plurality of voice samples into a single sound file is also provided.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 22, 2016Publication date: April 13, 2017Inventor: Sajit BHASKARAN

Publication number: 20170103759Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium, for a dynamic threshold for speaker verification are disclosed. In one aspect, a method includes the actions of receiving, for each of multiple utterances of a hotword, a data set including at least a speaker verification confidence score, and environmental context data. The actions further include selecting from among the data sets, a subset of the data sets that are associated with a particular environmental context. The actions further include selecting a particular data set from among the subset of data sets based on one or more selection criteria. The actions further include selecting, as a speaker verification threshold for the particular environmental context, the speaker verification confidence score. The actions further include providing the speaker verification threshold for use in performing speaker verification of utterances that are associated with the particular environmental context.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 3, 2016Publication date: April 13, 2017Inventors: Jakob Nicolaus Foerster, Diego Melendo Casado

Publication number: 20170103760Abstract: A frame error concealment method based on frames including transform coefficient vectors including the following steps: It tracks sign changes between corresponding transform coefficients of predetermined sub-vectors of consecutive good stationary frames. It accumulates the number of sign changes in corresponding sub-vectors of a predetermined number of consecutive good stationary frames. It reconstructs an erroneous frame with the latest good stationary frame, but with reversed signs of transform coefficients in sub-vectors having an accumulated number of sign changes that exceeds a predetermined threshold.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 21, 2016Publication date: April 13, 2017Applicant: Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson (publ)Inventors: Sebastian NÄSLUND, Volodya GRANCHAROV, Jonas SVEDBERG

Publication number: 20170103762Abstract: An audio system encodes and decodes audio captured by a microphone array system in the presence of wind noise. The encoder encodes the audio signal in a way that includes beamformed audio signal and a “hidden” representation of a non-beamformed audio signal. The hidden signal is produced by modulating the low frequency signal to a high frequency above the audible range. A decoder can then either output the beamformed audio signal or can use the hidden signal to generate a reduced wind noise audio signal that includes the non-beamformed audio in the low frequency range.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 19, 2016Publication date: April 13, 2017Inventors: Zhinian Jing, Scott Patrick Campbell

Publication number: 20170103763Abstract: The following coding scenario is addressed: A number of audio source signals need to be transmitted or stored for the purpose of mixing wave field synthesis, multi-channel surround, or stereo signals after decoding the source signals. The proposed technique offers significant coding gain when jointly coding the source signals, compared to separately coding them, even when no redundancy is present between the source signals. This is possible by considering statistical properties of the source signals, the properties of mixing techniques, and spatial hearing. The sum of the source signals is transmitted plus the statistical properties of the source signals which mostly determine the perceptually important spatial cues of the final mixed audio channels. Source signals are recovered at the receiver such that their statistical properties approximate the corresponding properties of the original source signals. Subjective evaluations indicate that high audio quality is achieved by the proposed scheme.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 22, 2012Publication date: April 13, 2017Applicant: Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft zur Foerderung der angewandten Forschung e.V.Inventor: Christof FALLER
