Publication number: 20170131152Abstract: The invention relates to devices for indicating the history of products, e.g., with regard to the temperature progression. The device according to the invention comprises a covering layer, an indicator layer, an activator layer, and an optional delaying layer. By means of heating, moisture is released, which, in the case of some embodiments, migrates first into the delaying layer and then into the activator layer. There, an activator is mobilized and migrates together with the moisture into the indicator layer. By interaction of the indicator with the activator in the presence of moisture, a color conversion occurs, which indicates the exceedance of the critical temperature. The invention further relates to methods for producing the device according to the invention and to applications of the device according to the invention, e.g., in the temperature monitoring of sensitive products.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 30, 2015Publication date: May 11, 2017Inventor: Philipp Wötzer

Publication number: 20170131154Abstract: A system and method for monitoring the temperature of a platen and a workpiece disposed on that platen is disclosed. Since the platen is a dielectric material, its properties, such as resistivity and conductivity, may change as a function of temperature. By understanding the relationship between these parameters and temperature, it may be possible to indirectly determine the temperature of the platen. For example, the platen may be in electrical communication with a power supply, which provides a clamping voltage for the workpiece. By monitoring the current waveform associated with the clamping voltage, it is possible to determine changes in the characteristics of the platen. Based on these changes, the temperature of the platen may be calculated.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 6, 2015Publication date: May 11, 2017Inventor: David E. Suuronen

Publication number: 20170131189Abstract: A method for separating plasma in a minute amount of a blood sample diluted with a blood dilution buffer is provided. When a blood dilution buffer is added to a minute amount of blood (about 20 to 100 ?L) so as to assay the biological blood components in the resulting diluted plasma, it is necessary to separately store and transfer the diluted blood cell component and the diluted plasma component. In such case, diluted blood cells are transferred to the lower portion of the polymer gelling agent and dilute plasma is transferred to the upper portion of the same. Assay of the biological blood components using a minute amount of blood can be utilized for early detection of health status, diseases, and presymptomatic states.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 12, 2014Publication date: May 11, 2017Applicant: Leisure, Inc.Inventors: Shinya Sugimoto, Isao Yonekubo, Masato Kawaguchi, Susumu Osawa

This may include estimating the imminent rock failure using differences between portions of a curve generated based on the measurements.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 4, 2016Publication date: May 11, 2017Applicant: BAKER HUGHES INCORPORATEDInventors: Hector Gonzalez PEREZ, Guodong JIN, Gaurav AGRAWAL, Syed Shujath ALI, Ali Al DHAMEN

Publication number: 20170131194Abstract: An NIR analyzer with the optical probes across a pipe, or in a bypass configuration, after a stabilizer in an oil or condensate production plant. Prior to use, liquid samples from the plant are analyzed in a chemical lab to obtain reference vapor pressure or compositional values. A chemometric model using known techniques is then built with the captured absorption spectra and the reference lab results. Preprocessing methodologies can be used to help mitigate interferences of the fluid, instrument drift, and contaminate build up on the lenses in contact with the fluid. The chemometric model is implemented through the NIR analyzer as the calibration curve to predict the vapor pressure or other values of the flowing fluid in real time.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 26, 2017Publication date: May 11, 2017Applicant: JP3 Measurement, LLCInventors: Joseph Paul Little, III, Jie Zhu

Publication number: 20170131195Abstract: A liquid density measuring device for use with a hydrometer comprising a vessel for receiving a liquid sample with a temperature calibration gauge having a thermo sensing end in contact with the liquid sample within the vessel. The gauge including a readout can be either analog or digital. The readout indicates a number relative to a current temperature of the liquid sample as sensed by the gauge. The number indicated on the readout being a desired hydrometer reading at the current temperature of the liquid sample. The readout will change to indicate a different desired hydrometer reading if the liquid sample changes temperature.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 6, 2015Publication date: May 11, 2017Inventors: James Schumacher, Angela Schumacher

Publication number: 20170131196Abstract: A method for determining a shape of particles in a distribution with reduced measuring and analyzing complexity includes detecting the number of particles, measuring and storing a particle chord length for each particle as a measurement for particle size and measuring at least first and second distributions of the particle size from the particle chord length measured for each particle. The first distribution is based on a first quantity type, the second distribution is based on a second quantity type and the quantity types correspond to different powers of the particle size. A first distribution parameter, corresponding to a cumulative or density distribution, of the first distribution is set into a distribution parameter ratio with a second distribution parameter, corresponding to a cumulative or density distribution, of the second distribution. An aspect ratio is determined from the distribution parameter ratio as a value characterizing the shape of the particles.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 29, 2015Publication date: May 11, 2017Inventors: STEFAN DIETRICH, DIETER PETRAK, MICHAEL KOEHLER, GUENTER ECKARDT

Publication number: 20170131197Abstract: A system for analyzing fluid includes a housing having first and second opposing surfaces spaced to form a fluid chamber, a light source disposed to direct light at the first surface of the housing; and a digital imaging circuit disposed to detect light at the second surface of the housing. The digital imaging circuit includes a pixel array configured to capture one or more digital images of an illuminated fluid. The system also includes a processor configured to: capture multiple digital images of the fluid at different camera exposure levels, calculate a net radiant energy value at a plurality of different integration times within at least two images, calculate a slope of the net radiant energy value with respect to integration time in a selected image, and determine size distribution and volume fraction of particles within the fluid based on the calculated slope.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 12, 2016Publication date: May 11, 2017Inventors: Pranay Jain, Sanjay E. Publication number: 20170131199Abstract: A probe for an IR or UV sensor comprising a light emitter and detector is described comprising a lens. The detector detects the spectrums of the emitted light after it has passed a gas to be measured. The sensor of the present invention is especially suitable for such as harsh or aggressive environments measuring the exhaust gasses, for example in ships, vehicles, chimneys etc., and comprises purge gas protections for delicate optical parts to prevent particles etc. from the exhaust gas depositing on the optics. The sensor further has a flow of sample gas from the gas to be measured being adapted to prevent the purge gas from inferring with the measurements.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 17, 2015Publication date: May 11, 2017Inventors: Allan Skouboe, Jesper Høyer, Carsten Moberg
