Abstract: There is the problem that a liquid culture medium fed by a pump has a high frequency of contact with a gas during movement in a tube, and the pH value of the liquid culture medium before and after feeding changes easily. In a liquid feeder and a cell culture apparatus provided therewith, a feed pipe 7 is connected with a gas bag 14, the liquid to be fed into the feed pipe 7 is fed so as to be sandwiched by a gas for suppressing the qualitative changes of the liquid. Furthermore, the gas bag is connected with a container 8 for holding a liquid, and holds the gas for suppressing qualitative changes of the liquid in a gas phase of the container.

Abstract: The present invention relates to the production of cell cultures and tissues from undifferentiated pluripotent stem cells using three-dimensional biomimetic materials. The resultant cell cultures or tissues can be used in any of a number of protocols including testing chemicals, compounds, and drugs. Further, the methods and compositions of the present invention further provide viable cell sources and novel cell delivery platforms that allow for replacement of diseased tissue and engraftment of new cardiomyocytes from a readily available in vitro source. The present invention includes novel methods required for the successful production of cell cultures and tissues, systems and components used for the same, and methods of using the resultant cell and tissue compositions.

Abstract: The present invention pertains to an improved mesenchymal stromal cell (MSC) preparation and a method for producing the same. The invention provides a new strategy to isolate MSC from bone marrow mononuclear cells (BM-MNCs) by pooling BM-MNCs of multiple unrelated (third-party) bone marrow donors. The MSC preparation manufactured in accordance with the methodology of the invention is characterized by a stable proliferative capability and an increased immunosuppressive potential when compared to individual donor MSC preparations or a pool of individual MSCs generated from multiple donors. The MSCs prepared ac- cording to the invention are particularly useful for medical applications such as the treatment of graft-versus-host disesase (GvHD) in recipients with hematopoietic stem cell transplants, patients with autoimmune disorders and as a cell-based therapy in regenerative medicine.
