Abstract: A bending control mechanism includes a turning power input mechanism A, a turning transmission mechanism B, a locking mechanism C and a linear power output mechanism D; further, the turning power input mechanism A and the turning transmission mechanism B which are coaxially arranged have a relative rotating angle range in the circumferential direction; the turning power input mechanism A sequentially rotates in an angle I, an angle range II and an angle III while rotating relative to the turning transmission mechanism B from one end angle to the other end angle within a relative rotating angle range, wherein the angle I or the angle III corresponds to turning; the angle range II corresponds to a locking state. With the adoption of the mechanism, the problem of turning and fixing of the surgical instrument in a human body during surgery is solved, and the risk of surgery is reduced.

In some embodiments, implants are screwed into two vertebrae and a plate is used to hold and displace the spine. In some plate embodiments, at least one longitudinally elongated opening is disposed at one end of the plate and partially opening onto an edge of the plate. In some plate embodiments, at least one longitudinally elongated opening is disposed at one end of the plate having a portion sufficiently large to be inserted without disassembly in the fixation means of an implant already screwed into the spine when the fixation means are already assembled.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for compressing and/or distracting bones are described herein. In one such method, a tap marker is engaged with a bone and a compressor/distractor device. The tap marker can be removed after moving the bone and a bone screw can be inserted into the space previously occupied by the tap marker. A rod or other fixation element can then be attached to the bone screw.

Abstract: A spinal stabilization system may include a pair of structural members coupled to at least a portion of a human vertebra with connectors. Connectors may couple structural members to spinous processes. Some embodiments of a spinal stabilization system may include fasteners that couple structural members to vertebrae. In some embodiments, a spinal stabilization system, provides three points of fixation for a single vertebral level. A fastener may fixate a facet joint between adjacent vertebrae and couple a stabilization structural member to a vertebra. Connectors may couple the structural members to the spinous processes of the vertebrae. Use of a spinal stabilization system may improve the stability of a weakened or damaged portion of a spine. When used in conjunction with an implant or other device, the spinal stabilization system may immobilize vertebrae and allow for fusion of the implant or other device with vertebrae.

Abstract: A surgical tool adaptor (10) includes a distal interface member (12) and a proximal holder (14). The surgical tool adaptor is formed with a lumen (16) through the distal interface member and the proximal holder for passing a guiding element (24), e.g. a K-wire, distally through the distal interface member. The proximal holder includes a locking element (26) for locking the guiding element in the lumen and the distal interface member includes a connecting element (18) for connecting to a surgical tool. The proximal holder is movable relative to the distal interface member so that the proximal holder is movable to a position wherein the guiding element does not protrude proximally out of the proximal holder.

Abstract: Osteoarthritis (OA) is the most common disease affecting human joints. Mechanical stress through the joint is one of the most important independent etiological factors. The present invention provides a prosthesis that by passes some of the stress from the joint without destroying the joint surface. It allows may provide a full range of joint movement, while sharing the load with the physiological joint, thereby maintaining the viability of the physiological joint surface. In addition, the prosthesis can accommodate native soft tissue structures in or around the joint, such as ligaments.

Abstract: An assembly used in osteosynthesis comprising a delivery instrument in combination with an implant wherein the delivery instrument releasably holds the implant in a first configuration prior to attachment of the implant to bone. The delivery instrument allows the implant to be affixed to bone before the implant is released from the instrument. And the instrument may comprise guide means for drills, depth gauges, screws, pins, pegs, blades and or drivers which are used or implanted when the implant is releasably attached to the instrument. After the implant is affixed to bone and released from the delivery instrument, the implant assumes at least a second configuration which provides compression and or distraction and or control of spacial orientation.
