Abstract: A process for fabricating an optical device includes injecting (301) optical silicone into a mold cavity formed by two or more mutually matching mold-elements, curing (302) the optical silicone contained by the mold cavity, and separating (303) the mold-elements from the optical device constituted by the optical silicone. The reversible elasticity of the optical silicone after the curing phase is utilized in the process so that at least one of the mold-elements has counterdraft which causes a reversible deformation in the optical device when the mold-element is separated from the optical device. As the counterdraft is allowable, the shape of the optical device as well as the dividing joints between the mold-elements can be designed more freely. For example, walls of the mold cavity corresponding to optically active surfaces of the optical device can be arranged to be free from dividing joints between the mold-elements.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for making a three-dimensional object from a solidifiable material using a linear solidification device is shown and described. Either a build platform or a solidification substrate has a curved surface, and each point on the curved surface traverses a trochoidal path during an object solidification operation. The curved surface allows the separation forces between the solidification substrate and the most recently solidified layer of material to be concentrated along a line instead of along a planar section which reduces the overall separation force and the likelihood of damaging a part.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method for unpacking a component 16 manufactured by means of a generative manufacturing process, from a particulate material fill 18. In the method, an auxiliary frame 20 having a vertical circumferential wall structure 22, open downward, is arranged above a vertical circumferential wall structure 12 of a construction box 10. In addition, a construction platform 14 of the construction box 10 is displaced upward, so that the particulate material fill 18 containing the component 16 is transferred from the construction box 10 to the auxiliary frame 20. In addition, the auxiliary frame 20 with the particulate material fill 18 containing the component, and the construction box 10 are moved away from each other, and the component 16 is unpacked from the particulate material fill 18 at least in part and is removed from the auxiliary frame 20.

Abstract: At least a portion of a 3-D object is converted into a format suitable for printing. A material volume coverage vector for each voxel of a 3-D bit map of a 3-D object is determined. The 3-D bit map comprises a plurality of voxels, each voxel located at a unique 3-D location. A rectangular cuboid comprising an M×N×L array of voxel locations enclosing at least a portion of the 3-D object is determined. A halftone threshold matrix comprising an array of threshold values is provided. The halftone threshold matrix is converted to provide an M×N×L 3-D array of threshold values. Each material volume coverage vector of the at least a portion is compared with each threshold value at corresponding 3-D locations to select a printable voxel at each 3-D location to convert the at least a portion of the 3-D object into a format suitable for printing.
