Abstract: A system for delivering pressurized fracking fluid to a well includes a high-pressure pump pumping proppant-free fluid, and a double-piston pressure transfer arrangement for transferring pressure from the proppant-free fluid to a fracking fluid. The pressure transfer arrangement includes first and second cylinder assemblies, each having a piston in sliding engagement within a first hollow cylinder so as to define first and second chambers of the first cylinder and third and fourth chambers of the second cylinder. A piston rod interconnects the pistons. A flow selector alternately directs high-pressure proppant-free fluid to the first chamber and the third chamber so as to act on the pistons, thereby applying pressure to fracking fluid within the second and fourth chambers, respectively, for delivery to the well in alternate power strokes.

Abstract: A formation testing tool which performs the dual function of fracturing and in-situ proppant placement. The testing tool houses proppant slurry having proppant and fracture fluid therein, and a probe which seals against the wellbore wall. During operation, the probe seals against the wellbore wall whereby fluid communication may take place. Using a pump aboard the testing tool, the fracture fluid is forced through the probe and into the formation to produce the fractures. The testing tool, which has a pressurized compartment, then injects the proppant into the fractures.

The invention utilizes the fumigant method by combining two gases (DME and heptane) which autoignite prior to the injection of the liquid water. This pre-combustion of the fumigant gases combined with the engine's compression of the combustion chamber gases is managed to attain a supercritical combustion chamber environment into which the liquid water is injected. This targeted supercritical combustion chamber environment causes the water to become a superheated steam, resulting in significantly greater efficiency and negligible exhaust gas pollutants resulting from the steam engine.
