Abstract: An ocean wave energy absorbing kite system 200 captures an ocean wave's kinetic energy as a force on a submerged, reciprocating panel 202 that drives the panel back and forth in an oscillating motion. The force applied to the panel is transmitted to a power generator 244 through opposed flexible ropes or lines 214, 224 loaded in tension. Potential energy is captured from the wave as a vertical force when a buoyant volume attached to the energy absorbing panel or kite member 202 rises on a passing ocean wave's peak, and transmits the force through flexible ropes or lines in tension to a power generator. Optionally, the shape of the panel is configurable to limit or restrict absorbed wave energy, thereby preventing damage from larger storm-generated waves.

Abstract: An assembly for converting linear and rotational motions of a floating vessel into electrical energy. The assembly provides a floating vessel, such as a boat, and an operationally connected power generation unit that harnesses the natural buoyant movements of the vessel to generate electrical energy in the power generation unit for use by the vessel or other electrical consumption system. As the vessel moves in linear and rotational movements, the power generation unit reciprocally pivots. This pivoting motion urges a push rod in and out of the power generation unit. A piston extends from the push rod. A reservoir feeds hydraulic fluids through a closed loop system. The piston urges the hydraulic fluid into a hydraulic motor that creates a mechanical action. A generator converts the mechanical action to electrical energy. A platform pivots between a table position and a step position to provide greater functionality of the vessel.

Abstract: A dual rotor axis wind turbine that converts renewable energy into electrical energy. The dual rotor wind turbine addresses the counter productivity problem found in dual rotors wind turbines, which occurs due to adverse effects to the downwind rotor due to lying in the wake of the upwind rotor. The dual rotors lie on an axis with a relative angular displacement between the blades of such rotors, wherein the relative angular displacement is adjustable in order for the downwind rotor to avoid the counterproductive wake of the first rotor.

Abstract: The invention relates to a power plant controller for controlling wind turbine generators. More particularly, the invention relates to a method for compensating data obtained from measurements at a connection point to the grid in case of a communication failure where communication of such data is lost or becomes unreliable. The measured data are used in the power plant controller for determining setpoints for controlling the wind turbine generators' production of active and reactive power. In response to detection of a communication fault a new setpoint is determined independently of new measured grid data by reconfiguring parts of the power plant controller.

Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to systems and methods for automatically calibrating a load sensor system of a wind turbine and determining health of same. In one embodiment, the method includes receiving a plurality of sensor signals generated by the plurality of load sensors from the load sensor system. The method also includes determining, via a computer model, a load estimation of the wind turbine based on the sensor signals, turbine geometry, and one or more additional input parameters (e.g. rotor azimuth angle, pitch angle, rotor position, etc.). Another step includes comparing the load estimation to a load measurement to determine one or more correlation coefficients. Thus, the method also includes calibrating the plurality of sensors in the load sensor system based on the correlation coefficients.
