Abstract: A medical device such as an external defibrillator delivers electrical therapy using a special pulse sequence. The special pulse sequence includes a defibrillation shock that is automatically followed by a quick succession of automatic post-shock anti-tachycardia (APSAT) pacing pulses. Because of the pacing pulses, the defibrillation shock can be of lesser energy than an equivalent defibrillation shock of a larger energy. Accordingly, the external defibrillator can be made physically smaller and weigh less, without sacrificing the therapeutic effect of a larger external defibrillator that would deliver a defibrillation shock of higher energy. As such, the defibrillator is easier to configure for transporting, handling, and even wearing.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention are directed towards fire blocking apparatuses. A fire blocking apparatus for a solar panel is mounted to an underlying mounting surface. The fire blocking apparatus includes a panel support structure sized and shaped to be mounted between a solar panel and the mounting surface thereby supporting and creating a gap between at least a portion of the solar panel and the mounting surface, where at least a portion of the panel support structure comprises a heat or fire sensitive material configured to melt, deform, or warp at a predetermined temperature such that when the structure is mounted between the solar panel and the mounting surface and heated at or above the predetermined temperature, the panel support structure collapses to reduce the gap between the at least a portion of the solar panel and the mounting surface.

Abstract: Provided herein is a sprinkler system including a compact-design connector coupling a flexible conduit to a sprinkler body. In one approach a sprinkler assembly includes a t-joint connector, a sprinkler body (e.g., a dry-type pendent body) coupled to the t-joint connector at a first opening of the t-joint connector, and a flexible conduit coupled to the t-joint connector at a second opening of the t-joint coupling. The sprinkler assembly may further include an adjustable bracket coupling the sprinkler body to a building structure, such as a ceiling or wall. The t-joint connector eliminates the use of an elbow-type connection to a flexible hose, thus enabling use in a freezer/cooler application, while also reducing the overall footprint of the sprinkler assembly.

Abstract: A fire retarding missile and method of use having a unitary construction and containing a propulsion system as well as fire treatment materials. Dispersal of the materials can be initiated both actively and passively, with passive dispersal allowing for a fail safe mode of operation. The fire treatment materials are of the oxygen reduction type, and the method of the invention is to target the hot spot of a fire in order to reduce the spread and intensity thereof. An active guidance system may be of the heat seeking type, or may alternatively be remote controlled video. Stabilizer and guidance fins are controlled in response to signals from the guidance system in order to precisely position the device. In one embodiment, the device can be broken down to allow for easy replacement of certain components. The device can be modified for use in fires of specific heat ranges by using nose cones designed to melt in a respective heat range.

Abstract: An embodiment of the present invention includes an advanced adjustable density misting delivery system (AMDS) for detecting and neutralizing a fire. The AMDS includes a bladder containing a fire suppressant material, a pump operatively connected to the bladder via a tube, and a nozzle operatively connected to the pump and the bladder via the tube. The AMDS also includes a controller electrically connected to the pump and a sensor in communication with the controller, where the sensor is configured to detect a parameter that indicates the presence of the fire. The controller is configured to transition the pump from a deactivated state to an activated state when the sensor detects the parameter, such that in the deactivated state the pump does not operate, and in the activated state the pump causes the fire suppressant to flow from the bladder, through the tube, and out the nozzle.

Each grip handle is defined by an increasing outer surface circumference along the length of the handle to form a generally conical shaped handhold attached to a rigid or flexible member. Where, the member is coupled at the apex of the grip handle. The generally cone shaped handle provides a comfortable and ergonomic surface to securely distribute the user's grip force during the exercise movements, thus significantly reducing the pressure points and grip requirements of current exercise handles. Where in one embodiment, the flexible member may be a resistance band or in another embodiment, it may be a rope or other type of flexible cable attached to a cable pull machine, suspension trainer anchor, or other type of exercise machine.
