Abstract: A cartomizer assembly of an electronic cigarette which is formed from automated assembly compatible parts comprises a container assembly including a container and a heater coil surrounding a wick in an airflow space of the container. The entire coil of the heater coil is inside the container and the heater coil is configured to heat liquid on the wick to generate an aerosol mist during a vaporization process. A liquid storage space is in liquid communication with the wick and is operable to supply liquid to the wick. The heater, the wick, and the container are shaped such that the heater and wick can be dropped into the container during automated assembly thereof and be directed to and located at a desired location in the container.

Abstract: A sound responsive garment for synchronized output of sound, light and vibration includes a shell. A power module is coupled to the shell. A microprocessor is coupled to the shell and operationally coupled to the power module. A plurality of speakers, a plurality of lights and a plurality of vibrators are coupled to shell and operationally coupled to the microprocessor. An input is operationally coupled to the microprocessor. The input is configured to couple to an audio source such that an audio signal from the audio source is relayed to the microprocessor. The speakers are positioned to emit the audio signal. The lights and the vibrators are motivated by the microprocessor to emit light and vibrations, respectively, timed to the audio signal.

The wristband may include two force grounding segments adjacent to the ulnar and radial sides of the wrist. The wristband may also include a tension adjustment mechanism (e.g., a ratchet) to adjust the tension of the wristband.

Abstract: Aspects herein provide for a method of manufacturing a vented insulated garment using sections of non-woven polymer material and garments produced therefrom. The method generally comprises positioning a section of non-woven polymer material between two textile layers, and bonding the textile layers together at areas adjacent to the section of non-woven polymer material to form seams. The seams may be optionally perforated.

Abstract: Described is a jacket having removable arm pit sections. The jacket includes removable fabric sections attached proximate the sleeve openings on an interior side of the jacket. The removable fabric sections are machine or hand washable such that the removable fabric sections can easily be removed, washed, and reattached to the jacket such that the entire jacket does not need to be dry cleaned as often.

The method generally comprises providing a non-woven polymer sheet having one or more voided portions, positioning the sheet between two textile layers, and bonding the textile layers together at areas corresponding to the voided portions in the non-woven polymer sheet to form a seam. The seam may be optionally perforated.

Abstract: The technology described herein generally relates to a garment that is insulating yet light weight, which may provide protection from the elements without weighing down the wearer. The garment in accordance with the technology described herein comprises a layer of thermally insulating sheet material having one or more voided portions in place of conventional down or other synthetic thermally insulating materials. The one or more voided portions allow the thermal insulation to be light weight and adequately protective in cooler/cold weather, without adding motion hindering bulk to the garment.

The composition structure contains a rigid shock-deflecting outer layer, two semi-rigid shock-damping and shock-dissipating middle layers, and a pliable shock-absorbing lower layer. In one embodiment, the structure is designed for impacts associated with contact sports, such as football, hockey and lacrosse. In another embodiment, the structure is designed for military/police applications, in which impacts can be blunt forces, from weapons such as clubs, or penetrative forces, from knives, bullets or shrapnel.

Abstract: A brain-protecting helmet lining apparatus and method providing pad liners made of a viscoelastic material which deforms in a time-dependent and nonlinear way, and has a capability of storing strain energy when deformed, while dissipating some energy through hysteresis, where, in use, the viscoelastic material will deform, under slight pressure applied consistently, to closely fit the user's head and prevent unwanted movement of the head within the helmet, but upon the application of strain over a short pulse of time from a blow or checked momentum, the viscoelastic material will resist deformation which would loosen the fit to the user's head, and will store and partially dissipate the strain energy, protecting the head and brain of the user.

Abstract: Disclosed are apparatuses and methods for improving the impact performance of helmets. The disclosed apparatuses and methods allow the head to move within the helmet but dissipate forces upon the head in a plurality of directions using compressible impact-dissipating elements. The compressible impact-dissipating elements are disposed on a base between the head and an outer shell of the helmet. The compressible impact-dissipating elements are attached to the base that is configured to adapt to the interior size/shape of the helmet with which they are used. The compressible impact-dissipating elements are compressible preferably at least 50% of their “short-axis” dimension, and are also preferably capable of movement in a plurality of directions by the use of appropriate attachment elements allowing for such movement.

Abstract: A shoe has a main body, an ankle strap, and a toe loop connected to the main body with a toe strap. The main body wraps around the instep of the foot and the arch of the foot, without covering the ball of the foot, the heel, or the toes. The ankle strap is attached at its ends to the main body and extends around the back of the foot above the heel for constraining the main body from forward movement. The toe loop surrounds one of the toes. The top strap connects the toe loop with the main body from above the foot, the top strap extending over the instep for constraining the main body from rearward movement.

Abstract: An improved sandal with several orthotic benefits is provided. The sandal has a unique combination of features what will be useful for the treatment and prevention of plantar fasciitis. The improved sandal has a medial split in the medial heel section of the sole. The medial split is designed so that it absorbs more energy than the other parts of the heel and promotes a lateral to medial rotation of the heel portion during the wearer's gait. In a preferred embodiment, the sandal will include a rocker bottom sole and raised bed for the big toe that begins its rise at the metatarsophalangeal joint. In an additional preferred embodiment, the sole of the sandal will also include a metatarsal bar that supports the traverse arch and an upward bend that begins to rise from the sole at a point just forward of the end of the medial split and intersects with the metatarsal bar.

Abstract: A high heel shoe protector for covering and protecting an exterior surface of a high heel shoe. The high heel shoe protector includes a panel having a first distal end and a second distal end, wherein each distal end contains a fastener that removably secures to one another to form a loop. The panel further contains a fold at a mid-section thereby creating a first lateral side and a second lateral side. A shared seam extends perpendicularly from a lower edge of each lateral side, wherein the seam creates a closed loop that receives a high heel of a high heel shoe. In an alternative embodiment, the panel is made of a flexible water resistant material and the fastener on each distal end comprises hook and loop material.

Abstract: Waterproof, breathable socks, booties, shoe inserts, and footwear assemblies containing the shoe inserts are provided. The booties and shoe inserts include a laminate of a seamless ePTFE membrane and at least one textile. The bootie is conformable over a range of sizes and shoe shapes, and may be shaped to fit numerous sizes and shapes of asymmetrical shoe lasts. The bootie may shrink to fit, or, alternatively, be stretched to fit, an asymmetrical last having a desired size to form a shoe insert. Such a conformable bootie eliminates the need to have multiple sizes of shoe inserts correlating to particular shoe sizes. In embodiments where the ePTFE is seamless and continuous, the shoe insert eliminates the need for a waterproof seam tape, which is conventionally used to make shoe inserts waterproof. Methods of forming the socks, booties, and shoe inserts are also provided.

The sole member can be manufactured using a cushioning sole system that provides different cushioning characteristics to a sole member using varying patterns of apertures. A user's foot morphology and/or preferences may be used to design the sole member. The sole member can include a set of apertures that are formed along various surfaces of the sole member.

The elongated heel support member may be angled and extend from a heel region to a midfoot region, in order to disperse forces applied by a wearer's heel during movement. The heel system may include two heel support members, each associated with a side of the article of footwear. The article of footwear may also include a series of ribs in the midfoot region, which may abut a front edge of the heel support members. Finally, the article of footwear may include asymmetric side flaps extending downward from an upper plate so as to overlap a midsole.

The case has a back of a first material that is relatively rigid and a frame structure with sides of a second material that is relatively elastic and flexible, which absorb shock. In a specific implementation, the first material is a polycarbonate and the second material is a thermoplastic polyurethane, formed together by a co-molding plastic injection process. The thermoplastic polyurethane extends around a perimeter of the case. To insert the device, the sides of the case elastically stretch over sides of the device, and then elastically contract to their original size and shape to retain the device in the case.

The body securement device preferably includes a cuff that can be disposed around a user's finger. The body securement device is connected to the grooming tool via an elongated tether. In this way, if the user drops the grooming tool while using the same, the grooming tool is prevented from falling to the ground due to the connection of the grooming tool to the body securement device.
