The controller is operable to operate the cementing unit to automatically perform: a pressure calibration of the cementing unit, a pressure test of the cementing unit, an over pressure shut-down test of the cementing unit, a low rate pumping test of the cementing unit, a hydraulic horsepower test of the cementing unit, and/or a mixing test of the cementing unit.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 24, 2016Publication date: September 13, 2018Inventor: Carlos URDANETA

Publication number: 20180258738Abstract: The invention relates to a method and apparatus for avoiding fluid loss during installation of a lower completion in an open hole oil, gas or water well. A lower completion assembly 3, 33 comprising tubing with production perforations, for example in a sand screen, is run into the well on drill pipe 8, 38. The lower completion 3, 33 is hung from a packer 4, 34, together with a wash pipe 9, 39 which extends through the inner of the lower completion 3, 33. At the proximal end of the lower completion is a seal 15, 45 through which the wash pipe 9, 39 extends. An aggressive breaker fluid is circulated through the wash pipe, through a float shoe 11, 41 at the end of the completion. Once circulation is completed, the aggressive breaker removes all filter cake from the formation in 30 minutes. The wash pipe 9 is withdrawn but, because the wash pipe 9 seals against the seal 14 as it is withdrawn, fluid is not lost into the formation via the lower completion.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 13, 2018Publication date: September 13, 2018Inventors: MILNE Ian, BONE Alistair

Publication number: 20180258741Abstract: A device for retrieving a control pod from a subsea BOP stack or deploying a control pod to a subsea BOP stack includes a base having a longitudinal axis, a first end, and a second end axially opposite the first end. The base includes a plurality of axially adjacent bays positioned side-by-side between the first end and the second end. Each bay is sized to hold one control pod. In addition, the device includes a trolley moveably coupled to the base. The trolley includes a first stall and a second stall axially adjacent the first stall. Each stall is configured to hold one control pod. Further, the device includes a housing fixably coupled to the base. Still further, the device includes a control pod actuation assembly coupled to the housing. The control pod actuation assembly is configured to move the trolley axially relative to the base and the housing to align each stall of the trolley with at least one bay of the base.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 16, 2016Publication date: September 13, 2018Applicant: National Oilwell Varco, L.P.Inventors: Travis James MILLER, Richard Watson COWAN, Alex Michael BELOTE, Frank Benjamin SPRINGETT
