An expanded ablation volume profile is constructed based on the direct tissue removal profile and the expanded tissue volume is to be ablated instead to correct to the wavefront aberrations. The thickness of the ablated profile of a conventional ablation profile is expanded by an expansion factor (Nc?1)/(Nm?Nc), Nc is the index of refraction of the cornea and Nm the index of fill material. An expanded ablation volume filled with the fill material produces the effect of correcting wavefront aberrations as if a much smaller tissue volume were ablated without the fill material.

Abstract: A plurality of semiconductor light-emitting elements radiates light onto a subject. An ultrasonic wave reception unit receives ultrasonic waves generated by the radiation of light onto the subject and outputs an electrical signal based on the received ultrasonic waves. A control unit controls light emission patterns of the plurality of semiconductor light-emitting elements to radiate the light onto the subject in respective different positions and at respective different times. An image generation unit generates a plurality of images, each such image being generated by independently reconstructing a respective electrical signal output by the ultrasonic wave reception unit based on the light radiated onto the subject in a respective one of the positions and at a respective one of the different times. The image generation unit generates a composite image concerning the subject by combining the plurality of images.

Abstract: A method for computing fractional flow reserve (FFR), comprising: receiving geometrical parameters of a blood vessel segment comprising a proximal end and a distal end, the geometrical parameters comprising a first geometrical parameter, a second geometrical parameter and a third geometrical parameter; and with the proximal end as a reference point, deriving a reference lumen diameter function and a geometrical parameter difference function based on the geometrical parameters and the distance from the position along the segment of blood vessel to the reference point. Derivatives of the geometrical parameter difference function are calculated in multiple scales. A maximum mean blood flow velocity of the segment is obtained, and FFR is computed as a ratio of a second blood flow pressure at the first location of the blood vessel to a first blood flow pressure at the proximal end of the segment based on the multiple scales of derivative difference functions and the maximum mean blood flow velocity.
