Abstract: Electrode structures for transvascular nerve stimulation combine electrodes with an electrically-insulating backing layer. The backing layer increases the electrical impedance of electrical paths through blood in a lumen of a blood vessel and consequently increases the flow of electrical current through surrounding tissues. The electrode structures may be applied to stimulate nerves such as the phrenic, vagus, trigeminal, obturator or other nerves.

Abstract: Systems and methods for monitoring and treating patients with heart failure (HF) are discussed. The system may sense cardiac signals, and receives information about patient physiological or functional conditions. A stimulation parameter table that includes recommended values of atrioventricular delay (AVD) or other timing parameters maybe created at a multitude of patient physiological or functional conditions. The system may periodically reassess patient physiological or functional conditions. A therapy programmer circuit may dynamically switch between left ventricular-only pacing and biventricular pacing, or switch between single site pacing and multisite pacing based on the patient condition. The therapy programmer circuit may adjust AVD and other timing parameters using the cardiac signal input and the stored stimulation parameter table. A HF therapy may be delivered according to the determined stimulation site, stimulation mode, and the stimulation timing.

Abstract: Presented herein are techniques for suppressing electrical interference caused by a feedback path(s) between an output channel and an input channel of an implantable medical device. In particular, the output channel carries stimulation signals that can pass through the feedback path(s) and appear in the input channel, thereby causing interference with any input signals carried by the input channel. The implantable medical device is configured to determine characteristics of the feedback and subsequently use the feedback characteristics to generate feedback compensation signals for application to the input channel.

Abstract: Implantable cardiac stimulation devices configured to deliver more than one pacing pulse per cardiac cycle, and methods for use therewith, are described herein. A method can include delivering a first pacing pulse using a first pair of electrodes. Thereafter, between delivery of the first pacing pulse and delivery of second pacing pulse using a second (different) pair of electrodes, one or more voltage characteristics are measured at each of a plurality of different nodes within the cardiac stimulation device. A preferred pair of nodes for use during a fast discharge phase are identified based on the measured voltage characteristic(s). Switches within the implantable cardiac stimulation device are controlled so that the pair of nodes, identified as being the preferred pair of nodes that are to be used for performing the fast discharge phase, are used for performing the fast discharge phase to thereby achieve charge neutrality in an improved manner.

Abstract: It has been discovered that low molecular weight poly(ethyleneglycol) (PEG) can be used in place of diethylene glycol monobutyl ether (DGME) in fire foam concentrates without compromising the desirable properties provided by DGME. Surprisingly it has been found that lower molecular weight PEG with a weight average molecular weight Mw of 400 or less provides comparable performance to DGME with considerably lower toxicity. Use of this PEG permits preparation of fire foam concentrates that exclude DGME completely and that are less toxic than conventional DGME-containing concentrates.

Abstract: Jump rope handles are described. In an embodiment, a speed rope includes a handle having a head rotationally coupled to a grip to rotate about a first axis, and a rope hinge rotationally coupled to the head. The rope hinge has a single degree of freedom relative to the head, and the single degree of freedom can be rotation of the rope hinge about a second axis. The rope hinge may include a cylindrical outer surface mounted in a pivot hole of the head to constrain movement of the rope hinge to rotation about the second axis. Accordingly, a rope held by the rope hinge can pivot about the second axis while simultaneously swinging around the first axis. Other embodiments are also described and claimed.

Abstract: Weightlifting plates might be constructed of various materials. For example, a density-adjustable composition might be used that allows respective weight amounts plates to differ, while the plate volumes remain consistent. As such, in a set of weightlifting plates, each plate in the set includes a common volume (e.g., diameter and thickness) and a different respective weight amount. In addition, the weight plates can be combined with a barbell.

Abstract: An improved exercise mat and method comprises opposed ends and opposed sides, and folding member means to extend the mat laterally from at least one of the sides while that folding member is attached to, or contiguous with, the side of the mat. When a user wants to extend the folding member away from the mat, increased surface area creates additional areas to protect the user from touching the floor or ground. If additional surface area is not needed for an exercise, the folding member can be folded inward of, and overlying flatly, the mat thus effectively increasing it thickness, and providing additional cushioning to the user.
