Abstract: A high-efficiency extra-large cooling capacity series water-cooled chiller in an energy station, comprising at least two evaporators, a condenser, a chilled water main pipe and a cooling water main pipe, all the evaporators form an evaporator series set in a series connection form, both ends of the evaporator series set are connected to the chilled water main pipe, and each evaporator is provided with a refrigerant channel for connecting the condenser. According to the present invention, the evaporators are set in series combination. When the load is very low, one compressor operates at a high load or at full load, that is, the compressor continuously operates in a high efficiency zone, which avoids multiple compressors operating in an inefficient zone, and high total power.

Abstract: An air handler unit (AHU) in communication with a building automation system (BAS) or through direct programming of one or more smart valves within the AHU operates to meter an amount of water that flows through a coil in the AHU. In one embodiment, the BAS transmits a temperature setpoint signal to the smart valve and allows the smart valve to control its valve position without additional input from the BAS. In another embodiment, the AHU includes a master smart valve and a second valve. The BAS provides the temperature setpoint signal to the master smart valve, which in turn provides another temperature setpoint signal to the second valve. The second valve may take the form of a slave smart valve or a slave non-smart valve.

Abstract: In a plate heat exchanger, a bypass passage and a main passage are formed upstream of first passages and second passages between adjacent ones of first heat transfer plates and second heat transfer plates. The bypass passage allows first fluid flowing from an inflow port of the first fluid or second fluid flowing from an inflow port of the second fluid to pass a side farther than a corresponding one of adjacent holes while spreading in a vertical direction in a front view and then flow into an inner fin or a corrugated heat transfer surface. The main passage allows the first fluid flowing from the inflow port of the first fluid or the second fluid flowing from the inflow port of the second fluid to directly flow toward the inner fin or the corrugated heat transfer surface without routing through the bypass passage. A flat space is formed around an entire circumference of each of the adjacent holes, between a circumferential wall and the inner fin or the corrugated heat transfer surface.

Abstract: The invention provides a method for reclaiming heat from a fluid, the method having the steps of contacting the fluid to a phase change material for a time sufficient to increase the temperature of the material and or liquefy some of it; and contacting the material to a second fluid for a time sufficient to increase the temperature of the second fluid and to decrease the temperature of the material or to solidify some of it. The invention also provides a system to reclaim heat from a first fluid, the system having a first void space containing phase changing material, and a second void space in thermal communication with the first void space. The system functions as an efficient thermal storage buffer when heat supplied from the first fluid is not equal to the heat received by the second fluid at any instant of time.
