Abstract: Systems and methods for generating power using hydrogen fuel, such as derived from natural gas, are provided. Feed materials are introduced into a compact hydrogen generator to produce carbon dioxide, hydrogen gas and steam. Sorbent material within the compact hydrogen generator acts to absorb carbon dioxide, forming a used sorbent. Hydrogen gas and steam are separated from the used sorbent and passed to a power generator such as a hydrogen turbine to produce power. The used sorbent is introduced into a calciner and heated to desorb carbon dioxide and form a regenerated sorbent which can be recycled to the compact hydrogen generator.

Abstract: A cementitious material made from industry accepted precursor materials that will adhere to existing concrete or rock has several exploitable features beyond adhesion. The primary motivation for the invention was a self-adhering thin overlay of quality better or equal to the parent concrete floors is now possible. Structural repair of concrete is possible. There are a range of compositions and exploitable features than can be used to give the product flexibility across many concrete repair applications. This resulting material can demonstrate the low permeability and high strength closer to natural stone materials such as quartz and dolomite rocks than to concrete but intermediate compositions are technically viable as well. The material can be used for high quality precasts.

Abstract: Hydrophobic aggregates for use in refractory castables and gunning mixtures and methods of their preparation. The aggregates here are formed by crushing insulating fire brick and coating the resulting particles with a hydrophobic component. The hydrophobic component may be a polydimethylsiloxane having a terminal silanol group. As a result of the coating process, the coated aggregate has very low levels of alkalis. The aggregates may be used to form refractory castables that do not undergo substantial alkaline hydrolysis due to the reduced levels of alkalis. The castables made from these aggregates display superior physical properties, including lower water content, lower permanent linear change, high strength, and superior thermal conductivity/insulation properties, while at the same time possessing lower density and requiring less water to be used during castable formation. These improved properties also are observed in gunning mixtures formed from these aggregates.
