  • Publication number: 20190112390
Abstract: The present inventors produced a variety of bispecific antibodies that specifically bind to both F. IX/F. IXa and F. X, and functionally substitute for F. VIIIa, i.e., have a cofactor function to promote F. X activation via F. IXa. Among these antibodies, the antibody A44/B26 reduced coagulation time by 50 seconds or more as compared to that observed when the antibody was not added. The present inventors produced a commonly shared L chain antibody from this antibody using L chains of A44, and showed that A44L can be used as commonly shared L chains, although the activity of the resulting antibody is reduced compared to the original antibody (A44HL-B26HL). Further, with appropriate CDR shuffling, the present inventors successfully produced highly active multispecific antibodies that functionally substitute for coagulation factor VIII.

  • Publication number: 20190112395
Abstract: This invention describes a method for the purification of a hemicellulose extract produced for example through hot water extraction. Such extracts often contain large amounts of colloidal material which primarily consists of lignin and other phenolic compounds. These colloidal particles clog equipment such as ultrafiltration membranes, which deem the use of such equipment almost impossible. The unwanted material is very tacky at temperatures between 70 and 120° C. which makes it possible to adsorb it onto a variety of materials. Further, by using an adsorbing material that is wholly or partly contaminated with chemically alike material the purification process is greatly enhanced.

Abstract: Embodiments relate to a polymerizable composition for a plastic lens. The polymerizable composition for a plastic lens according to the embodiment further comprises a diketone compound for the purpose of controlling the strong activity of a halogenated tin-based catalyst. Further, the polymerizable composition is preliminarily polymerized at a low temperature of 5 to 20° C. for a certain period of time, specifically 1 to 20 hours. Since it is possible to stabilize the reaction rate of the composition and to properly control the viscosity of the composition, a more stable pot life is attained, thereby improving the workability. In addition, the generation of bubbles is prevented, thereby improving the transparency of the resin. Hence, the polymerizable composition can be advantageously used for fabricating various plastic lenses such as eyeglass lenses, camera lenses, and the like.

Nanocarrier cargo such as hydrophobic drugs and other materials may be sequester in the core via non-covalent means or may be covalently bound to the telodendrimer building blocks. Telodendrimer structure may be tailored to alter loading properties, interactions with materials such as biological membranes, and other characteristics.

Abstract: Amine-aldehyde resins are disclosed for removing a wide variety of solids and/or ionic species from the liquids in which they are suspended and/or dissolved. These resins are especially useful as froth flotation depressants, for example in the beneficiation of value materials (e.g., bitumen, coal, or kaolin clay) to remove impurities such as sand. The resins are also useful for treating aqueous liquid suspensions to remove solid particulates, as well as for removing metallic ions in the purification of water.

The method includes reacting a first monomer and a second monomer in a reaction mixture including a base. In some embodiments, the first monomer, second monomer and base can be selected such that halogen salts are not formed during the reacting. In some embodiments, the method can also be a solvent free process. The PAES polymer and polymer compositions can be desirable in many application settings including, but not limited to, electronic components.
