Abstract: A procedure and apparatus for cementing and cleaning a reservoir liner 3 comprises installing a reservoir liner using a drill string 4 which extends only as far as the distal end of a cased part 2 of the well, then, using the drill string, displacing cement into the reservoir liner using completion fluid whereby, when the cement is in place in the annulus around the reservoir liner, the reservoir liner is already clean and filled with completion fluid. A ball valve 6 at the top of the reservoir liner 3 is then closed before the cased part 2 of the wellbore is cleaned, to avoid debris entering the reservoir liner.

Abstract: A bottom hole assembly (BHA) incorporates a tubular cutter driven by a downhole motor. A scraper moves into a smaller tubular to clean an area where a spear will later be engaged to the cut tubular portion. The scraper has a relatively movable mandrel that allows straight through flow into the motor or closes flow to build pressure to a telescoping jack to exert a pull force on the cut tubular after the cut is made. The spear is articulated with mandrel manipulation to grab the cut segment and weight is set down to shift the mandrel in the scraper to allow pressure buildup with rig pumps turned on to retract the jack as the BHA is held with anchors in the larger tubular. The cut segment is pulled uphole to loosen it so it can be removed from the borehole.

Abstract: The magnetic fishing tool has an axial flow passage through a valve member and one or more magnets for initial dispersal of debris away from the fish. Once engaged to the fish the flow direction can be altered by moving the valve member to open lateral ports and to close the straight through path so that fluid circulates above the fish to clear debris from ahead of the fish on the trip out of the hole. This can be accomplished with an object landed on a seat in the valve member, which causes it to shift axially to expose the lateral ports. Optionally the valve member can be shifted with flow in which case the flow will continue axially as well as laterally for the retrieval of the fish.

Abstract: An actuating system of an engine valve comprises a movable member, for example, in the form of a master piston controlled by a cam of a camshaft. A slave piston is hydraulically controlled by the master piston by means of a volume of pressurized fluid, to open said engine valve against the action of a return spring. The system also comprises an auxiliary device for applying an additional force to the engine valve to keep the engine valve in a closed position. The auxiliary device is configured or controlled in such a way that the total force tending to keep the engine valve in its closed position varies during each rotation cycle of the cam. The total force is higher at least in one part of the rotation cycle of the cam wherein the engine valve must remain in its closed position, and is, instead, reduced at least in one part of the rotation cycle of the cam wherein the engine valve is not in its closed position.

Abstract: A valve drive comprising a camshaft with base shaft, a lobe pack mounted on the base shaft and comprising three cam lobes. Two actuator bodies are associated with two actuator pins each connected to a valve of a cylinder of the engine. The lobe pack is axially displaceable along the base shaft so as to for each actuator body change cam lobe aligned therewith. A middle cam lobe has a shape leaving an actuator body aligned therewith uninfluenced thereby. In a first position of the lobe pack a first of the actuator bodies is aligned with and hit and moved by a first cam lobe and the other, second actuator body is aligned with the middle cam lobe, and in a second position the second actuator body is aligned with and hit and moved by a third cam lobe and the first actuator body is aligned with the middle cam lobe.

Abstract: A method, control system, and vehicle system configured to control a selective catalyst reduction (SCR) system subtracts an amount of NOx present in a tailpipe upstream of the SCR system from an amount of NOx present in the tailpipe downstream of the SCR injector. A cumulative difference may be determined based on integrating the subtracted NOx value. The method, control system, and vehicle system are configured to determine whether the cumulative difference exceeds a control threshold, and to set a selected upstream NOx value as a predetermined model upstream NOx amount if the cumulative difference exceeds the control threshold, but to set the selected upstream NOx value as the determined upstream NOx amount if the cumulative difference does not exceed the control threshold. Thus, the system is reset to the model when downstream NOx values exceed upstream NOx values above a threshold, to bring the system back within control.
