  • Patent number: 10307105
Abstract: The present invention introduces a method, device and a computer program for removing artifacts present in individual channels of a multichannel measurement device. At first, a basis is generated defining an n-dimensional subspace of the N-dimensional signal space, where n is smaller than N, where using in the definition of the n-dimensional basis a physical model of a Signal Space Separation method, or a statistical model based on the statistics of recorded N-dimensional signals. Thereafter, a combined (n+m)-dimensional basis is formed by adding m signal vectors to the n-dimensional basis, each of these m signal vectors representing a signal present only in a single channel of the N-channel device. After this the recorded N-dimensional signal vector is decomposed into n+m components in the combined basis, and finally, components corresponding to the m added vectors in the combined basis are subtracted from the recorded N-dimensional signal vector.

  • Patent number: 10307106
Abstract: Systems and methods for estimating time-dependent voltages that are induced in electrophysiological monitoring systems by magnetic field gradients generated during a magnetic resonance imaging (“MRI”) scan are provided. The gradient-induced voltages are subsequently removed from signals acquired with the electrophysiological monitoring system during an MRI scan. As an example, the electrophysiological monitoring system can include an electrocardiography (“ECG”) system, an electroencephalography (“EEG”) system, an electromyography (“EMG”) system, a voltage device tracking (“VDT”) system, and so on. The gradient-induced voltages are estimated using a two-step procedure in which a learning algorithm is used to determine fitting parameters to be used in a model of the gradient-induced voltages. The fitting parameters are then used together with the model to extract the gradient-induced voltages from signals acquired during an MRI scan. The gradient-induced voltages can then be removed from the acquired signals.

  • Patent number: 10307135
Abstract: An intravascular ultrasound “(IVUS”) device having an intrinsic or attachable needle guide is disclosed. In some embodiments, a sheath having a needle guide is used in connection with an IVUS device. The devices may be used in performing minimally invasive image-guided surgical procedures. The devices may be configured to maintain a needle placed through guide in the plane of the IVUS-array to improve visualization of the needle. In some embodiments, the device is used to facilitate the creation of a tract through the liver from the inferior vena cava to the portal vein using IVUS-guidance in a direct intrahepatic portocaval shunt procedure. The devices, systems, and methods can improve patient safety by decreasing the risk of off-target punctures, decrease procedure times, and allow procedures to be performed from a single access site.

  • Patent number: 10307136
Abstract: The present invention relates to a monitoring apparatus (100, 200) for monitoring a structural change in an object (280, 340), such as a heart wall tissue. Tissue at first and second locations exhibits first and second velocities. The monitoring apparatus (100, 200) comprises an ultrasound signal providing unit for providing ultrasound signals of the object (280, 340) for different times. The monitoring apparatus (100, 200) further comprises a discontinuity determination unit (120, 220) for determining a discontinuity of the first and second velocities based at least in part on a change in time of tissue velocity differences and of tissue velocity sums. From the discontinuity an ablation depth can be determined, which is an important parameter while performing an ablation procedure. For example, it can be used for determining the progress of ablation within the object and for determining when the ablation has reached a desired dimension.

  • Patent number: 10307141
Abstract: What is disclosed is a system and method for breast cancer screening which determines whether hot spots, as seen in a thermal image of both breasts, can be classified as possibly malignant based on a measure of symmetry. A thermographic image of both breasts of a patient is received and analyzed to determine whether there exists, in each of a left breast and a right breast, a hot spot comprising a patch of pixels with an elevated temperature with respect to surrounding tissue. If a hot spot has been identified in each breast then a measure of symmetry comprising a ratio of an area of a smaller hot spot to an area of a larger hot spot is extracted from the thermographic image. The measure of symmetry is provided to a classifier system trained to classify an unclassified hot spot as malignant or non-malignant based on a measure of symmetry.
