  • Patent number: 10307207
Abstract: Techniques for treating a tumor and vaccinating against cancer are described. The techniques include treating the tumor by positioning electrodes over an interface between the tumor and non-tumor tissue and applying sub-microsecond pulsed electric fields. The positioning is facilitated by an imaginary contour line of a threshold value of the electric field. In an example, the imaginary contour line is overlaid over images that include the tumor such that the electrodes are properly positioned over the tumor. The techniques also include vaccinating against cancer by passing sub-microsecond pulsed electric fields through tumor cells of a subject sufficient to cause the tumor cells to express calreticulin on surface membranes. The tumor cells are extracted and introduced with the expressed calreticulin into the subject or another subject, thereby providing a vaccination.

  • Patent number: 10307221
Abstract: The present invention provides digitally driven methods to conveniently and efficiently monitor and evaluate the positions of a patient's teeth during the course of orthodontic treatment. In an exemplary embodiment, an initial set of 3D digital data representing a patient's dental structure is provided by means of an X-ray radiograph and/or an intraoral scan. Then during the course of treatment, a reduced image representing part of the dental structure may be quickly provided using a bite plate or a low resolution intraoral scan. A three-dimensional (3D) image of the full dental structure is subsequently rendered or ‘reconstructed’ by registering elements of the initial image with corresponding elements of the reduced image. By reconstructing the dental structure from the reduced image, the treating professional can provide a precise, manipulable 3D image of the patient's complete dental structure for diagnostic and treatment planning purposes.

  • Patent number: 10307229
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for constructing tooth surfaces of a dental prosthesis and for producing dental restorations, starting from a 3D data record of an upper mandible layout and a 3D data record of a lower mandible layout, each layout comprising a number of teeth arranged in each mandibular arch and the teeth of the upper mandible layout and the teeth of the lower mandible layout at intercuspation making contact with each other at multiple contact points. The contact surfaces are selected by approximation. Relevant surface pairs lying opposite one another are identified and are incorporated by an optimization algorithm into local minimum distances, taking into consideration surfaces that can slide past one another. This allows the desired contact points to be produced. Surfaces that have not been selected are not considered in the production of the points of contact.

Abstract: A method for precisely identifying a fixed point of reference on a human jaw including providing a mandibular c-clamp, which has a shaft, an upper prong fixedly connected to the shaft, a lower prong movable along the shaft, and a wedge configured to selectively secure the lower prong to the shaft. The upper prong of the mandibular c-clamp is inserted into a patient's mouth. The lower prong of the mandibular c-clamp is then moved along the shaft to close on a patient's chin compressing patient's soft tissue, and a position of the lower prong is secured on the shaft using the wedge so that the lower prong is no longer movable along the shaft. A sensor is then secured to a designated area of the mandibular c-clamp so as to provide a reference point.

  • Patent number: 10307239
Abstract: A filter device has a catheter having a lumen, a shaft extended in the longitudinal direction from the lumen, and a filter capturing an embolus. The filter is connected to the shaft through a slide ring at the distal end thereof. The shaft is inserted into and passed through the ring. The ring is rotatable with respect to the shaft and slidable in the longitudinal direction. When the filter is expanded in a blood vessel, the ring slides on the shaft. The filter is connected to the shaft through another ring on the peripheral edge of an opening. The shaft is inserted into and passed through the ring. The ring is rotatable with respect to the shaft. The ring is held between a pair of stoppers fixed onto the shaft. Therefore, the movement of the ring in the longitudinal direction with respect to the shaft is prevented.

  • Patent number: 10307242
Abstract: The described invention provides several aspects designed to help mechanically break up a clot inside vessels and/or remove a clot via aspiration simultaneously, and a method of using same. According to some embodiments, the devices are adapted to irrigate a blood vessel during thrombectomy; to macerate an obstruction during thrombectomy, to block blood flow in a blood vessel during aspiration of a thrombus; or to capture and remove distal emboli. With the described invention, when used to ameliorate arterial clots, irrigation and aspiration are performed simultaneously in conjunction with a balloon or occlusive catheter to reverse flow of the vessel. With the described invention, when used to ameliorate venous clots and most arteriovenous dialysis grafts, a filter-tipped aspirator is used downstream from the clot to capture and remove dislocated emboli. An optional embodiment protects the three Great Vessels of the heart, unlike the prior art.
