Abstract: A method of cleaning naturally occurring radioactive materials (NORMs) from filtration socks utilizes a system that is equipped with a centrifuge, a disposal well, a surfactant and heated water. Through oil production, filtration socks become saturated with oil and NORMs. Typically, the used filtration socks are disposed of in a radioactive landfill or other proper disposal means. Through the method of cleaning NORMs, the used filtration socks are placed into a washing drum within a centrifuge and agitated with a surfactant and heated water to extract the NORMs from the used filtration socks. The centrifuge is spun to eject the waste solution from the washing drum, where the waste solution is pumped out of the centrifuge and into a class II disposal well to properly dispose the NORMs and brine from oil production processes. Cleaned filtration socks are then reusable or disposable in a more convenient manner.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for the tool-free removal of support structures in the additive manufacturing of one or more components. The components are built in layers together with support structures for supporting regions of the components, and the support structures are removed from the components after a complete construction of the components. The support structures are constructed in such a manner that they have target separation points at a transition to the components, which have a structure that breaks down more rapidly by chemical or electrochemical reaction compared to component parts. The support structures are then separated from the components by chemical or electrochemical breakdown of the structure at the target separation points. With this tool-free removal of the support structures, the components can be both arranged in parallel and also completely automatically processed.

Abstract: A method of forming a component from a part in the green state, including selecting at least one first portion of the part to undergo a different local volume reduction from at least one second portion to obtain the component. The green part is provided with the first portion(s) having a first solid loading and the second portion(s) having a second solid loading different from the first solid loading, then debound and sintered to obtain the component. The different first and second solid loadings produce the different local volume reduction in the first portion(s). The first portion(s) can be selected by determining a resulting final shape obtained from debinding and sintering a green part having a uniform first volumetric proportion of binder, and selecting the first portion(s) requiring a different local deformation than that producing the resulting final shape to obtain a desired final shape.

The cavity is divided and the parts slide along a division plane passing through the cavity parallel to the fitting direction of the die and the lower punch. The divided cavity parts are placed in a state of alignment along the division plane. The divided cavity parts are each filled with raw material powder. The die and the lower punch are then slid along the division plane, whereby the divided cavity parts are combined as the original cavity. The raw material powder in the cavity in a combined state is compressed by an upper punch and the lower punch.

Abstract: A cutting tool, a turning machine including the cutting tool, and an associated method are provided. The cutting tool includes a tool, a cutting head, a strain gauge, and an accelerometer. The cutting head is located at the tool bar and has a cutting edge. The strain gauge measures strain at the tool bar. The accelerometer measures acceleration at the tool bar or the cutting head. Deflection of the cutting edge is estimated based on output from the strain gauge and the accelerometer. In some embodiments, the accelerometer is arranged close to the cutting edge, while the strain gauge is arranged where the tool bar is susceptible to the largest strain. In some embodiments, low frequency vibrations of the cutting edge are estimated based on measured strain, high frequency vibrations are estimated based on measured acceleration, and medium frequency vibrations are estimated based on output from both sensor types.
