Abstract: An otoscope uses differential reflected response of optical energy at an absorption range and an adjacent wavelength range to determine the presence of water (where the wavelengths are water absorption wavelength and adjacent non-absorption excitation wavelengths). In another example of the invention, the otoscope utilizes OCT in combination with absorption and non-absorption range for bacteria and water.

Abstract: An esophageal deflection device includes an elongate outer tube that has a natural curved deflection at a position that corresponds to a targeted esophagus region for deflection. The outer diameter of the outer tube is substantially matched to an inner diameter of the esophagus to closely contact the esophagus wall, or is at least half of the inner diameter, or is smaller and includes suction ports for drawing the esophagus wall inward. An insertion rod or tube includes a portion that is stiffer than the curved deflection, and slides into the elongate outer tube to straighten the tube and can serve to guide the deflection device into an esophagus. Subsequent withdrawal of the insertion tube or rod will allow the curved deflection to return to its natural shape and deflect the targeted region of the esophagus. A three-dimensional array of temperature sensors can be disposed near an outer surface of the elongate outer tube.

Abstract: A medical device, comprising a housing, a combined modular structure which is formed by connecting a board card and an interface panel to a main bracket; a first opening arranged on the housing for the insertion of the combined modular structure; a first locking structure for locking and fixing the combined modular structure to the housing; a screen assembly; a second opening arranged on the housing for mounting the screen assembly, and a second locking structure for locking and fixing the screen assembly to the housing. The integral arrangement of a functional module of a medical device helps to improve the assembly precision between various components, and ensure the reliability of the connection between components. The housing adopts an integral structure, has good waterproof and dustproof effects as well as low production costs; the present disclosure facilitates the assembly of board card and other components, as well as module configuration and modular testing while also having good seismic performance.

Abstract: A blood pressure measuring apparatus for measuring blood pressure of a subject using a cuff attached to the subject includes a processor and a memory to store instructions that are readable by the processor. As the instructions are executed by the processor, the apparatus generates a pulsation signal of the subject while increasing an inner pressure of the cuff; generates a first-order differential signal by differentiating the pulsation signal. The apparatus then detects an inappropriate attachment state of the cuff based on at least one of: a bottom value of the first-order differential signal; a relationship between a peak value and the bottom value of the first-order differential signal; an amplitude amount of the first-order differential signal including the bottom value in a unit time; and a relationship between the amplitude amount and an amplitude amount of the first-order differential signal including the peak value in a unit time.

Abstract: The invention provides a body-worn patch sensor for simultaneously measuring a blood pressure (BP), pulse oximetry (SpO2), and other vital signs and hemodynamic parameters from a patient. The patch sensor features a sensing portion having a flexible housing that is worn entirely on the patient's chest and encloses a battery, wireless transmitter, and all the sensor's sensing and electronic components. It measures electrocardiogram (ECG), impedance plethysmogram (IPG), photoplethysmogram (PPG), and phonocardiogram (PCG) waveforms, and collectively processes these to determine the vital signs and hemodynamic parameters. The sensor that measures PPG waveforms also includes a heating element to increase perfusion of tissue on the chest.

Abstract: The invention provides a sensor for measuring both impedance and ECG waveforms that is configured to be worn around a patient's neck. The sensor features 1) an ECG system that includes an analog ECG circuit, in electrical contact with at least two ECG electrodes, that generates an analog ECG waveform; and 2) an impedance system that includes an analog impedance circuit, in electrical contact with at least two (and typically four) impedance electrodes, that generates an analog impedance waveform. Also included in the neck-worn system are a digital processing system featuring a microprocessor, and an analog-to-digital converter. During a measurement, the digital processing system receives and processes the analog ECG and impedance waveforms to measure physiological information from the patient. Finally, a cable that drapes around the patient's neck connects the ECG system, impedance system, and digital processing system.
