Abstract: Systems and methods of using the same for functional fluorescence imaging of live cells in suspension with isotropic three dimensional (3D) diffraction-limited spatial resolution are disclosed. The method-live cell computed tomography (LCCT)-in-volves the acquisition of a series of two dimensional (2D) pseudo-projection images from different perspectives of the cell that rotates around an axis that is perpendicular to the optical axis of the imaging system. The volumetric image of the cell is then tomographically reconstructed.

Abstract: A system and method may be used for reference model predictive tracking and rendering. Systems and methods may use computational systems, networking, or display hardware to seamlessly allow users to see their motion in real-time. The systems and methods may provide the brain the extra visual information to help a user converge to highly efficient high-quality technique (e.g., movement control) more rapidly than other processes. An approach to generating accurate models in delayed processing may include treating depth-sensor-derived skeletal inference of body position as statistical data about the underlying motion rather than a representation of that motion itself. In an example, a process for slicing up a time-series of body constructions in a motion model may use a full time series of positions for individual body segments, creating trajectories.

Abstract: Inertial damping is used to improve the simulation of deformable bodies for physics-based animation. Using this technique, undesirable dynamics of deformable bodies can be suppressed or completely removed while retaining other, more desirable dynamics. An inertial damping module selectively applies inertial damping to a subset of the dynamic modes of a simulated system (e.g., by using the quasi-static solution for these modes or reducing their magnitude). Thus, when the dynamics are simulated, the interactions between modes can be retained while the undesirable effects of the damped modes are reduced or eliminated. The results of the simulation are used to drive a physics-based animation.

Abstract: The present invention teaches a real-time hybrid ray tracing method for non-planar specular reflections. The high complexity of a non-planar surface is reduced to low complexity of multiple small planar surfaces. Advantage is taken of the planar nature of triangles that comprise building blocks of a non-planar surface. All secondary rays bouncing from a given surface triangle toward object triangles keep a close direction to each other. A collective control of secondary rays is enabled by this closeness and by decoupling secondary rays from primary rays. The result is high coherence of secondary rays.
