  • Patent number: 10717284
Abstract: A capping station is configured for storing printheads during printer inactivity to preserve the viscosity of the ink in the nozzles of the printheads. Each capping station has a receptacle, a planar member having a shaft that moves bidirectionally within an opening in a floor of the receptacle, a source of cleaning fluid, and a vacuum source. A controller is operatively connected to actuators to move the receptacle so a seal on an upper wall of the receptacle engages a printhead housing and to move the planar member within the receptacle. The controller also operates a pump to move cleaning fluid through the receptacle and to operate the vacuum source to pull ink from the nozzles of a printhead to the faceplate of the printhead. The planar member is moved proximate the faceplate so the ink forms a film that preserves the viscosity of the ink in the nozzles.

  • Patent number: 10717305
Abstract: Methods, Apparatus, Devices and Systems herein load a firing distance into a distance counter of a printing device. The firing distance is the distance from the current position of a printhead of the printing device to a marking location on a substrate and the distance is calculated based on an angular encoder operatively associated with a roller used to transport a marking media to the printhead for marking. These devices and methods count the firing distance in angular distance increments as a function of the encoder angular position to correct for encoder roller runout using the distance counter, based on relative movement of the substrate and printhead. When the distance counter reaches the last discrete distance increment corrected for encoder roller runout of the firing distance, these devices and methods load the fractional remaining distance of the firing distance into a time counter of the printing device.

  • Patent number: 10717309
Abstract: A liquid discharge head includes a head, a liquid supply conduit, a liquid discharge conduit, a radiator, first and second wiring boards, and a heat conductive member. Liquid is supplied to the head for discharge through the liquid supply conduit. Liquid that passes through the head flows to the liquid discharge conduit. The radiator includes a flow path through which a coolant flows. The coolant is different from the liquid supplied to the head for discharge. The first wiring board is between the head and the radiator and has a connector connected to a wiring extending through an inner space of the radiator. The second wiring board is between the head main body and the first wiring board, and includes, thereon, a driving control element. The heat conductive member extends between the head and the radiator, and is in thermal contact with the radiator.

Abstract: A medium includes a base layer and a separation layer stacked on each other. Regions are defined along a first direction. The regions include: a first region in which a portion of the medium which is in contact with the separation layer is stickable; a second region in which a portion of the medium which is in contact with the separation layer is non-stickable; and a third region in which a portion of the medium which is in contact with the separation layer is at least partly stickable. Four first vertexes of a first imaginary trapezoid shape which are located on an outer shape of the first region and four second vertexes of a second imaginary trapezoid shape which are located on an outer shape of the third region are symmetric with respect to an axis parallel with a second direction.

Abstract: The present invention relates generally to a data carrier comprising an opaque layer and a method for making the data carrier. During personalization phase, the ablation of the opaque layer by laser through the data carrier allows to define a see-through portion of the data carrier carrying opaque security, said see-through portion having an improved security corresponding to opaque embossing pattern overlapping at least partially the opaque security partially destroyed. Said defined see-through portion carrying opaque security partially destroyed with opaque embossing pattern on its surface is even more difficult to reproduce by forger, even more difficult to remove, replace or exchange and easy to check.

Abstract: A tactual finger grip device and method provides increased tactual and visual sensory awareness of finger pressure and alignment especially for the left-handed user. The grip device provides a conically shaped sleeve of resilient material for inserting and adjustably securing a hand-held implement, such as a writing implement. A plurality of raised surface projections circumferentially positioned about the grip device outer surface provide tactual friction with a user's fingers, enabling user tactile sensory awareness, causing the user to adaptably minimize the tactual friction by conforming fingers and hand to natural placement, when the user grasps the sleeve secured to the hand-held implement. The device provides visual indicia for the forefinger, index finger, and thumb placement forming a natural hand position.
